Colitis?? Okay, I posted about a week ago about Chelsea having seemingly uncontrollable loose stools and it did get better but now it seems like it's back. I took her to the vet the day after my last post and the vet said that she probably had colitis that was caused by whipworms and gave me five days of medicine and a few cans of prescription food (Purina Vet Diets EN - endogastric formula). I'm also planning on trying to get an appointment with the vet tomorrow, but does anyone possibly know what else would cause this or if it could be something else? Any and all input is appreciated, thanks:) |
First of all, welcome to YT. I have no idea about colitis, but I think others on here might know something about it. I think this thread was buried too quickly, and not many saw it. I hope they will see it now and respond. Good luck. Poor baby! :( |
What were you feeding before the EN and are you done feeding EN now? |
I have a pom with colitis and several things will set it off. stress, change in diet, a new treat. I now keep her on a very strict diet and have medicine from my vet for her. Your vet should be able to help. |
Thanks all for you help! Before feeding the EN she was getting Eukanuba Small Breed Puppy.... And yes, she's finished with the EN. I also called the vet today and she said to wait a couple of days to bring her in to make sure that it's the whipworms or colitis acting up again instead of her maybe getting into something she shouldn't have. |
I recommend having her tested for the bacteria Clostridium. Mine both just had it. Its terrible!!! |
colotis Any luck with colitis? The vet said Elizabeth has it but he won't tell me how to keep the loose stool at bay. I stopped all treats weeks ago but she still makes runny poops. She only gets Canidea life stages, nothing else. Is the Canidea giving her runny poops? It was fine before. Any advice would be great. Quote:

This is an old thread....but my Winnie has been having problems with loose poo and she was on blue buffalo. Her vet told me it may be too high in protein for her. She has been getting a probiotic on her food every day and that seems to be doing the trick. |
Did you do a fecal test? |

You can try a bland diet of plain boiled chicken & white rice w/plain pumpkin (not the pie filling kind) or frozen green beans for fiber. That's what our vet suggests for tummy upsets. For 2-3 days, then adding the new food little by little until she's eating the new food 100%. |
