See I dont like when they keep them all night and noone is there. I would find out for sure, ask the risks and what you would be watching for....and what the benefit would be to her staying there if noone is even gonna be watching her???? At least at home you can keep an eye on her. Now if someone is going to be there then yes....I would let her stay. |

thats what i did with Bella...the first night they were there all night with her staying was a must...the second night was for observation but noone was gonna be there.....how do you observe when you arent there??? I chose to take her home and if she acted up at all take her back to the emergency vet. Ended up fine. Good luck and let us know how it goes for ya!!! |
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything will be okay. I wouldn't want to leave him overnight either! That doesn't make sense. |
I would "observe" him at home if there isn't going to be anyone at the office. |
:( I'm just now seeing this. I hope your little guy is feeling better soon. I agree, if noone is going to be at the vet's overnight, I'd rather have him home with me so that I could watch him!! |
Better to bring him home then. |
We are all praying for you. |
I'd be taking him home also, if no one was there ! Poor little guy ! |
Sorry to just see this. Prayer's coming that all will be fine. Poor little guy. If no one is there overnight why leave him? Bring him home and monitor him yourself unless he has to be hooked up to IV or something of that nature. Hope he poops on his own today and everything turns out fine. finger's crossed it will. |
poor kibble......hope he poops before 5!!!! |
aww poor baby..I hope he gets better and can come home with you tonight. He would be better off at home with you than at the vet with no one there. |
Poor little boy. I hope your vet lets you bring him home. Wishing him well soon. Sheilagh |
I'm sending up a prayer for that sweet little baby right now. I don't understand why they want to keep him when no one will be there to watch him. I would rather have him home so you can keep an eye on him. |
I just called again and they said they really want to keep him over night. They said the doc is there off and on all night long. They said they gave him a injection and some lubricant to get him to go. So I don't know, I'm just so bummed, this is my fault, I left to go to the store and I should have put him up, He is still a baby and I'm just so darn stupid, I should know better then this! Good grief! |
You are NOT stupid! Stop blaming yourself! Things happen, to the best of them! We have all been in some similiar situation, I am sure! I wonder what type of injection they gave him? I am sure it will work!:xfingers: As for keeping them overnight...I don't know...I strongly stand firm that they come home! Even when Mojo had those problems that I PM'ed you about, he was on IV for 7 days and I got to bring him home every night...he would go in every morning, stay there all day on IV and come home every night. They kept the IV thing in his little leg all wrapped up. Course, my vet knows how crazy I am...and we have a very good relationship. Every night, I would keep a list of every time he got up, if anything "came" out and what it looked like, if he drank or ate and how much, etc. Every day, I had a list for them! I just think they do better at home, where they know they are safe and comfy..not in a little cage in a strange place, with strange smells and loud dogs and no one there! Poor things! |
they told me they have him in the "quiet zone" I asked if he seemed stressed and thet said no, he is doing good. she said she has held him and he loves right up to them. Quote:

am just now reading your post Missy . . I hope he is alright :( . .poor baby . . |
If there is no vet or staff on 24/7 I would bring him home. Is there a 24 hr vet you can bring him to if you have to.I opted to bring Cali home a few weeks ago even though it was a 24 hour ER. I live 7 minutes from them and knew I could get her back in no time if something happened. Next morning she pooped it out. Normally I follow my vets but I knew she would be so much better at home and she was not in serious shape at that point. Only you can make the decision just wanted to give my recent experience. I will keep him in my prayers. |
I just called and talked to my actual vet, not the tech. He said that he gave him a small sadation to keep him calm. I asked if he had a IV in and he said that he is to small and did not want to give him a IV but he did give him some fluids. He says he would just feel better if he stayed over night, he said he will be in throughout the night to check on him. |
Just now seeing this, So sorry:( Big prayers and Hugs comming your way.. |

Oh Missy, I sure hope he gets it all out! They worry us so much don't they. Don't you dare blame yourself. Hugs to you, and kiss that boy when you get him home. |

I had this happen to me last Aug. I didn't put mine up because we were just running to go pick up my daughter's birthday cake. Here is the link:http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92035 She is fine now...still tries to eat chocolate...ya think she would have learned.:( He will be fine, the vet probley just wants to keep him overnight to see what he passes and that he passes it comfortably. Keep us Posted. |
Thanks you guys for all your prayers. I was not going to say what he ate cause I feel so embarrassed. But he got into the bathroom trash and chewed up a tampon, he passed the string Sunday morning and I was so glad! I thought for sure he was going to be fine. But he kept hunkering over acting like he had to pooh but nothing would come out, he would just cry and cry. He would bite at his bottom, this went on all Sunday. He did sleep through the night, but when I got up with him Monday, took him outside and he was just hunkering over trying to go but nothing would come out. He was crying so bad and I felt so sorry for him, I picked him up and just loved on him, I could feel his belly was hard and tight. So I called the vet asap and told them what he had gotten into and she said that with a tampon, since they swell and we don't know how much he consumed, he needed a exray right away. Well the exray showed very little, so I pray he will go this evening. I asked the vet what will happen if he don;t go tonight and he said that they will do another exray and go from there. This is a pricy lesson for me, I now have my trash under my bathroom sink and will be buying a stainless steel small trash with a lid. |
There is no one here who doesn't have a regret about something, don't be too hard on yourself. If he stays tonight, call first thing in the a.m. Maybe you can go see him. It will do both of you good. |
Girl~ Do not beat yourself up over this... Trust me we all have been there.....I am just catching this thread but I wanted to offer my support and prayers and tell you what I did ...
