Please help!!! :( Okay, I know that this may not be an emergency, but then again it might. Since Friday Chelsea (14wks) has been having really soft/paste-like pooh and sometimes like a diahrreah with a horrid smell. Normally it's firm with no smell. There has been no food changes or change in feeding routine. The only possible thought I can think of is that she went to the vet on Friday and got some vaccinations, etc. So is this somethign I should be worried about or should I just clean it up and not worry about it. Thanks!! ps. I forgot to add that on Saturday night she threw up... it was a tan-like paste something and it didn't look like her food. |
I'm sorry to hear that your little one is not feeling well, I don't have any advise but I'm sure someone here can give you some great advice. |
Hi and Welcome. Sorry to hear Chelsea isn't feeling well! I have found that with puppies, like babies, it doesn't take too much to upset their tummies. If Chelsea seems to be feeling like herself in all other areas, I'm betting that it was the vaccinations and/or just the visit itself. Make sure she's not getting dehydrated with any loose stools though. Is she eating and drinking okay? Perhaps a little Nutrical? If you are feeling at all uneasy, a call to your vet will set your mind at ease. Someone smarter than me will be along in this thread to give you more advice, I'm sure. :) |
she could have thrown up bile....which is a yellowish but not usually pasty. I would call the vet and just let him or her know that your baby is having a problem since the shots and does he or she have any advise. And that she hasn't eaten anything different. I am sure they can tell you what to do. She may just have a reaction to the shots or maybe contracted a virus from one of the dogs at the vet.....could be several things. But anyway Yorkies are kinda small and can dehydrate quickly so I'd give the vet a call. Hope it clears up soon. Tina |
Thanks...Well I was assuming it was bile because it was kind of yellow-ish but I know it wasn't runny or anything....She is eating okay and drinking, but she has had diarrhea and has gone about 4 times in the last two hours (considering normally she only goes 2-3 times in a days time). I know that the last time she was at the vet they said they "squeezed her anal glands" because she was scooting around on her butt...could that be it? Is it supposed to do that afterwards, maybe they did something wrong? Or is she just sick.... I'm clueless... Tonight I'm leaving the door to her crate open so she can get out to go potty (on her pad hopefully:)) if she needs to. |
Have they checked her stool for coccidia? Coccidia is a bacteria that caused diarrhea and icky poops and it is fairly common for puppies to get it. Your might want to have her checked for that. |
