Teeth/Nervous. Lilly our 9 month old has double eye teeth. I was not too concerned over this as Tia who is now almost two has the same and they have never caused any trouble. We had been told with Tia to wait until her first cleaning and then have them removed. Normally, they would have removed the double teeth at time of spaying but Tia came to us already spayed and Lilly came to us from rescue at 13 weeks and rescue had done a pediatric spay. I noticed Lilly had stinky breath and started really examinging her mouth and gums and noticed that her one baby tooth was brown and cracked. Rotted. I brought her to the vet yesterday and she has to go in Thursday for a dental. They are going to remove both double teeth. Just nervous as she's only 4 lbs. and also wondering if this is going to be the start of a road with bad teeth. She is so young to already have a tooth rotted. NONE of my Yorkies ever lost their teeth. My oldest passed away this past summer from Cancer. He was 10 and always had beautiful teeth. This is all new to me. I am really worried about such a small pup being put under. Elaine |
i'm worried about the same thing.. my puppy is 4lbs right now.. and he's being neutered.. AS WE SPEAK. i'm worried.. but everyone is telling me that he'll be fine.. and it's normal to worry.. it's because we love our babies so much =D |
Tootsie has double eye teeth as well. She is two. But she will let me brush her teeth, in fact I think she likes it. So, for now, I think I will just let things be. Would they let you brush their teeth? Janice |
She'll be okay, Mom, it's hard not to worry though, I know. Luna was a little over 3 lbs at her spay and baby teeth removal. She did great, it was hard to keep her calm the next day:laugh: Getting these baby teeth out now will prevent a lifetime of dental problems. They get food caught in between the baby tooth and the adult tooth and no matter how well you brush, it's super hard to get it all out. This will help with her dental health in the future:) |
I was just at the vet with Murfee yesterday for his yearly check up and shots. He is 4 and still has one of his baby canine teeth. The vet said it looked fine though and to just leave it unless it caused him problems. I try to keep it clean and even floss between it sometimes. |
Try not to be nervous! My sweet Olivia has double teeth also! She is probably right at 3 lbs. (although she eats like a horse!) Keep us updated! :) |
:aimeeyork Hi.. Don't worry too much (easier said), my little girl had 14 teeth removed on Friday, along with being spayed and microchipped, and her mouth is already healed!! She just got a recheck today.. The mouth heals very fast. I was really worried cause my girl is only 2lbs 8oz!! She's tiny! Your baby will be just fine, you'll see!!!
