E collars question Are they suppose to be able to eat ad drink with these on? I don't think Banjo can unless I hold his food for him! He hates it! Only 1/2 day down and 2 weeks to go!!! |
Brody has to wear one at night. His is a soft material one. He's unable to eat or drink unless I help him. |
Yes they should but I could see how they can't. What surgery was done? |
1 Attachment(s) When A.J had to wear one, he was able to eat on his own after the first day or so. He just had to learn to put the cone over the food dish. :p By the end of the two weeks that he wore it, he acted like it didn't even bother him anymore. He started using is a scoop to pick up toys, crums, and anything else that fell on the floor! Attachment 197691 |
I don't know if this will work for Banjo or not. When Lucy had her LP surgery, she was so tiny, and the smallest e-collar didn't fit her. She wore a little jogging suit that covered her incisions and that kept her away from them. |
yes they can do everything they need while wearing the e-collar. they can eat, drink, and sleep with it on with no problems. they just need to adjust to it. |
is the e-collar for a neuter? |
I'm wondering what surgery was done because they can wear a onesie instead for some surgeries... |
Sorry! He chipped a bone in his leg and has a splint on a back leg. They put him in An Ecollar- a plastic on! He is doing better w/ it today! He kind of like it if atreat falls out of his mouth it goes in the collar- and he can mange to get it now! He has learned to eat and drink out of it today- but it is not easy for him! The jogger is a great idea though- I am going to see if I can find one here tomorrow- we don't have a lot of options here for dog clothes |
Charlie wore both - soft plastic and soft collar. The soft collar was much nicer for him and he didn't bump into everything. |
This collar is clear plastic! I am going to look for a jogger today- but I bet I can't find one in this town! |
please don't put clothes or anything else over the splint. Keeping it covered like that will create a warm environment for bacteria to grow. When the bandage is changed they will have "cheese" foot and it will smell horrible. Only cover the bandage with a plastic bag to go outside. |
