Scooter's done something to his leg! :( Scooter bolted into the backyard while ago, like he usually does...he loves to chase squirrels. He started screaming and I looked out and he was holding his leg up. He's walking on it now, not whimpering or anything, but he walks like we would if we had a stone bruise or a cut on our foot. I've checked his pads, nothing, and the yard is grass. Any ideas? I've set up the play pen in the living room so that he doesn't start rough housing, but, in the meantime until I can get him to the vet does anyone have any idea of what he may have done? |

Has he ever had his patellas checked? Maybe one popped out on him. |

sounds like kneecap to me.. Layla has done that a few times.. i'd go to the vet and ask to have his knee caps checked |

Did he step on a bee or spider or something? I hope he feels better! |

Hi, Marci! What did they do for Layla? |

my guess would be lp or a torn acl. Some will still toe touch after an acl injury. The bolting is also a key to an acl injury. |

Ya'll are wonderful! OK, I'm a Southern girl! Thank you all so much for responding so quickly. I thought of LP, and I know alot of our babies have it, but it really upsets me. I'm probably overreacting. I'll take him to the vet tomorrow and get a definitive answer. Right now, hubby is lying on the sofa with Scooter on his chest and he has his arms wrapped around him to keep him from trying to jump off. We love our baby. I have such a massive headache and I know it's from worry. I'll let you know what the vet says. Thanks again...we appreciate it so much. |

Let us know what the vet says... we are here for support :) if you search Gracie2006 threads... her little Gracie just had surgery for it and is doing really really well.. she had both legs done. Also Tatum (stedmansmommy) will be having it done in the near future... so you can watch her threads to see what it is all about.. but please keep in mind they can live their whole lives with stage 1 or 2 :) |

Thanks Marci. No, ya'll haven't upset me in the least. It's exactly what I thought, I guess I was just hoping someone would tell me that it wasn't so. I know how much you love Layla, so I know how upset you must have been too. I'm sure all of us react the same way. Anyway, hugs to you and Layla, and I'll let you know what the vet says. |

I had a male that screamed like that and came in limping and it was a torn ACL and they regrooved his kneecap when they repaired the ligament. Also , last week Roxie my puppy jumped off the bed and couldn'ttand on her back right leg for 10 minutes and the was limping for awhile. A few hours later she was fine and I took her to the vet the next day and she was fine. Hopefully Scooter will be fine in the morning. |

:thumbs up Just wanted to update on Scooter. He seems much better today, the vet thinks he sprained something...he's walking, running, playing normally (I'm trying to keep him quiet, but I have to let him out to potty). If I see any indication that he's starting to limp again, I'll take him right back to the vet. He doesn't seem to be in any pain today either, I've been watching to see if he was arching his back, and he's not. Thank you to all of you who responded so quickly...I really don't know what I would do without you all!! |

That is good news. Glad Scooter is all better. I can imagine just how frightened you must have gotten. Glad it all worked out fine. |
