Surgery! So miss Skylar needs Hernia surgery! The dr doesnt keep her over night...Is that bad?? Has anyone done this?? The first vet wanted to charge me $1300!!!! And now my regular vet (Bide a wee, which is non prof) is charging me 320. Im worried about taking care of her after. I mean is it like when she was spayed? Advice welcomed! |
I have no idea but just want to send warm wishes your way for a safe surgery... |
The vets over here rarely keep a dog in overnight after surgery. Only if something is amiss. Where is her hernia? Usually it's just a matter of making them rest, no jumping about, keeping the wound clean & not letting them disturb the stitches. same as after her spay really. |
It's an umbillical Hernia. |
Why didn't your vet take care of that when the poor baby was spayed. Glad you found the surgery cheaper. I think it should be fine. They will probably do the surgery laproscopically right? You just need to keep her from jumping around. |

an umbilical hernia isn't as big of a deal as other hernias. i think its ok for her to go home same day. its the same recovery as a spay. rest, no running, jumping, craziness until the stitches come out. |
