wow ss to hear that.. |
You should definetely PM Val and talk to her about neck injuries, I think that she could help you. She can probably tell you what's what and steer you in the right direction. Praying Lucy will make a speedy recovery! |
So sorry Lucy is having so much trouble. You really need to take Val's advice about the 2 kinds of x-rays - praying she's better |
Poor Baby, i hope they can help her ! |
Thoughts and prayers your way. |
Mri's are clearer than a Xray but AAI can be seen on a digital Xray.. And AAI(Atlantoaxial Instability) is just not congenital.. It can be acquired.. If you would like information on this please let me know.. I can send you many articles on this.. IT is what caused Babybear's problems the AAI.. But we did not know he had it.. And is was congenital.. Please make sure you tell the vets what to do you pay them they do not pay you.. If you do not like what one vet says see someone until you feel comfortable.. You would for your children do the same for you pup.. This is a furmom and furless mom speaking from a lot of experiance.. And please if you just want to talk Pmail me and I will give you my email addy so you can either write me there or IM me off list..And please take a few minutes to check out Babybear's web page if you haven' already.. We have been through a lot with him.. http://www.dogster.com/dogs/136060 I am hoping everything is going okay this weekend.. And you baby is not in a lot of pain.. If you baby is in pain please take it to the ER and have them check you sweetie.. |
Val~ Good to see you and as far as my 10 cents goes.. I VALIDATE ANYTHING VAL SAYS (BABY BEARS MOM) This lady and YT parents helped me and my baby Bleu Boy through a very tough situation and we are just now pulling out of it.... Bleu boys was a birth congenital defect but I agree it can be acquired as welland this is exactly what I think you are experiencing Bleu boy just had surgery and has been in a cast 7 weeks with one week to go... He has ATLANTO AXIAL SUBLUXATION. Please get your baby to a specialists a neurosurgeon specifically... I am sorry to tell you but giving the baby medicine is just masking the pain.... If you do not get the situation taken care of right away you are going to start seeing signs of PARALYSIS... I am not trying to scare you and I am by far no vet... BUT LUCYS SYMPTOMS ARE THE SAME AS BLEUS WAS!! One minute fine one minute not~ Going in circles... If I was to make a educated guess the reason your baby is going in circles is because there is too much pressure on the spinal column.... You have to get this corrected immediately.... MRI MRI MRI ... I woud not let ONE DOCOTOR DO SPINAL MANIPULATION ON YOUR DOG AS THEY CAN MAKE THINGS WORSE... Most vets do not know how to diagnose this ..... SEE A SPECIALISTS! Please I beg you and I am willing to give you my phone number to answer any questions. I will be awaiting your reply.. Please keep me updated.... I am worried about your baby !!! |
PLEASE READ THIS http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=110887 First of all I reread this whole thread but called hubby in here this time to read with me and I missed the part where you were feeding your baby chicken... I am just gonna share our experience does not mean it is right or wrong just means this is what we WENT THROUGH!!! I was told by the vet to put Bleu on all gerber chicken graduate baby food..... Surgeon at A&M said one of the worst things we did...... Needless to say he is off all baby food and will never in his life have CHICKEN AGAIN OF ANY SORT... W have been told the yorkshire terrier breeed has the most sensitive digestive system and chicken is so high in protein.... I would not want my baby to starve by any stretch of the imagination and I was only doing what the vet said do but his actual surgeon said NO NO NO NO NO.... Before diganosing his AAS they too thought Bleu had a liver shunt.... Their symptoms will make you think that.. He does not have liver shunt but too much protein can definitley make you think that.... I am sure you are doing all you know to do and I bet when Lucy is having a good moment you are thinking she is on her way to recovery and I would love to say that she is but I have a feeling she is not and I am not trying to scare you I am only wanting you to be urgent and not wait any more days before you get the test that says exactly what is going on... Bleu was good at going to the doctor and acting like nothing was wrong ... DID PERFECT but the minute we left he was wobbling going in circles walking backwards not responding ect.... I am going to find you our whole thread and I would like for you to read it and see if your Lucy is experiencing any of what BLUE experienced... Please know I am only trying to help you not scare diagnose or anything This just hits so close to home with me and my heart is breaking into. I want your baby to be helped and correctly diagnosed so she can live a long healthy life with you .... Vicki |

My dil thinks I should find a doggy chiropractor, but I'm not one that has a lot of faith in chiropractors of any kind and I can't help but think how much damage could be done by messing with her little spine. Thanks, Janice |
Oh my I am so in the middle when I type this and that is not where I want to be .... NO DOGGY CHIROPRACTOR ..... Specialists only .. NEUROSURGEON!!! I am not trying to scare you but I truly think from the bottom of my heart that the vet who took Bleus neck and did a chiropractic adjustment made it worse..... |

I had already planned to call a specialist tomorrow. My vet recommended one place and there is also a neorosurgeon at the place I took her for her LP surgery. I will start with the place I took her before, as they were great then. If I'm not satisfied with what they tell me, I will contact the other one. I will make sure that everything is done to find the extent of her injury and fix it. I didn't feed Lucy baby food chicken (not really). I flavored her water with about a quarter of a teaspoon of it to make it more appealing to her so she would drink something. I am feeding her canned dog food as she seems to have a hard time with dry. Appreciate your concern for Lucy. I love this little one. She is very special to me. I miss her sense of humor, as I haven't seen much of it in the last week. Please continue your concern for her and pray for her that she comes through this OK. Did Bleu get his cast off this week, or is that still coming up? I can't keep anything straight right now. I have to go tuck my grandson in, my son suggested he spend the night here tonight. Isn't that nice, that they invite their son to my house? They asked him if he wanted to stay before they checked with me. Geesh! I love the kid, but I'm tired. Oh well!! Thanks, Janice |
Oh sweet Janice~ I hear it in your voice and I can only imagine what you are going through right now... I know you are scared ... I would do this .. If you have a small crate to put your baby in put her in it...I would only take her out to potty and eat and then put her back in there.. She is protected that way.... I want to say that if she did have a reinjury or make it worse I still think they can fix it...Babybears neck was totally broke and they were able to fix him ...I was going back and forth to docs from Jan 10th till the 18th the day Bleu had his surgery and though I was scared and out of my mind he did not hurt himself any worse. They have a self mechanism of protecting themself... I would pull Bleus face to me to kiss him and he would put his paw up and keep me from moving his head. I thought at first he was rejecting me but he wasn't he was trying to keep me from hurting him because I had no idea at this time what was happening.... You are doing great.... I am sure you have alot on your plate and wondering which direction to go ..We are here to support you ..... I know it is hard when your baby has lost her humor and fiestiness.. I can reassure you with proper treatment you will get her back... Bleu is normal 100% normal.. I can get you in contact with about 2 other people with success stories like Bleu. Val can also help you with success stories .. Baby bears story is so motivational and it was his story that got us through....I could not have made it without Val and YT paw parents and last but not least GOd and my family...... Bleu goes for his last cast this Thurs and then hubby and I will take it off one week from that day... Thank you for asking..... YOu are going to get through this and have your little baby back to normal again... Praying for you Janice and praying for your baby ! Hugs from the heart Vicki |
