Double rabies shot - problems? Bella is 4.5 months old, 3 lbs. She had her rabies shot on Jan 28 as part of her health checkup, along with her other shots. My husband took her to the vet for her final shots, and the vet (our vet, not the breeder's) hit her up AGAIN with another rabies shot. I am so ticked I can't think straight! I GAVE them her shot history when we first brought her in. I keep hearing about shots that can cause problems down the road ... is this one of them? She's not acting strangely, but I'm worried about long-term effects? |

Any shot can cause long-term effects. The key is to try to give them as least as possible. There is nothing you can do about it now, so try not to worry. But yes, the rabies shot is terrible to put into any animals bodies even once, sadly. |
Often the side effects of the shots do not surface until months later. Too many shots can compromise the dogs immune system and later lead to behavioral problems, skin problems and other health problems. I would get her on good doggy antioxidant to try and boost her immune system. Info on vaccination dangers: http://www.deide.net/misc.html |
wow that's pretty close together. Hopefully it won't cause any problems long term. I'm sure she'll most likely be okay. When Lacy was a puppy we had a similar incidence. She was vaccinated for rabies at 3.5months. I took her back in 6 months later just to be dewormed because she was getting into the litterbox. I wasn't paying attention to what they were doing and she was completely revaccinated again for EVERYTHING. So far no issues with her...she's 3 1/2. I'll most likely be doing titers from now on before I vaccinate her for anything |

They sound very good! I would for sure check them out! |
That sounds like a dream vet. I sooo hate when Ellie is taken away from me. |

I don't know if I "buy" that or not, but I understand that you can't "unring the bell", and what was done was done. All I can do is hope for the best. Here is the link to the new vet I'm considering: www.pethealing.org Wha'cha think? |

I know some state laws require giving the rabies at 4 months old but I would hope the vet works with me and my next Yorkie pup and waits til 6 months. It is better for tiny dogs. |

I took Charlie for his shots and we recieved one for rabies and I;m taking him back in 3 weeks for another one...should I refuse to for them to give him the shot? I dont want to harm him even years down the road. |

How old was he when he got his rabies? |
What was your vet's response when he/she realized they goofed big time? |
