The BIG Question I apologize if this inforamtion is covered elsewhere I have actually searched the threads! If you can send me posts I would be more than willing to do the research ! Bleu is going to be neutered next week if all goes as planned! He will also be coming out of his cast YIPPEE!! Here are my questions I hope I cover everything: I like details please be detailed with me!!! 1. What will his pain be? 2. Will I need to doctor him? 3. Will he have a scar? 4. Will I have to replace a bandage? 5. Will he bleed ? 6. What is his recovery? 7. How many days in hospital? 8. How long is procedure? 9. What will he be like after the surgery? 10. What complications do I look for? 11. What can he do and not do? 12. Will his diet need to be changed before surgery or after (fasting) 13. WILL HE HATE ME? I would have had his neutering done when he had his major surgery but we did not know if he would even be alive so I did not risk him being under anesthesia anymore than what he had to be.... I dread this .. Please shed some light on this situation for me! Dont sugar coat anything though... Hugs I just love you all to pieces! Vicki:confused: |
It was a bit different for me because I have a girl but maybe I can answer these... Quote:

Thank you Ellie for your reply... I hope to have it done this week while he is still in cast it will keep him from getting to stitches .. Do you think that is a good idea? I have got a call into the doc now! |

If you are using your regular vet, do they use isoflurane or sevoflurane to maintain anesthesia? Do preop bloodwork? Do surgery on a heated surface? |
i only have girls so i can't give you answers but both of my girls were back to normal on the same day in the evening! Tumi acted like she didn't even have the surgery..monster!!! Well, keep me updated on my Bleu!!! I am praying for you and the baby!!! |

Vicki, Yeah, don't feed him in the morning of the surgery and Don't worry..he will not HATE you! trust me..:) :D |
Vicki Bleu should do fine. I had Beamer and Sunnie both done at the same time. Poor babies. They came home with pain meds the same day but I have to say they were both hurting that same night. It was so hard to pick them up. I mean where do you put your hands. Especially Beamer because he had one undecended testical so he had to be cut in the tummy as well. So I couldn't pick him up with my hands around his tummy and trying to scoop him up with one hand on the front of his chest and one under his behind was painful too. But both were just about back to thier old selves in about a day. They still were sore for a few days, but they at least would walk around. The first night they both just layed where we put them and didn't try to move. Sonya |
Just got off the phone with his actual surgeon since I trust her so much and she says NO NEUTER for 2 months:eek: He will almost be 9 months old! is that ok ? She wants him totally out of the cast and us to do a month followup and then it will take a month to get him in at the latest ! I wanted to go ahead and get it done but she says "WAIT" |

If this is Texas A&M you are talking about, then please wait. They know what's best. Nine months is definately not too late. |
