Question...limping So I noticed on Saturday Evening that Lucy was limping a little bit and that she wasn't able to jump up on the couch everytime that she tried. She's 10 months old and is usually able to jump all over the place. I picked her up and looked at her legs and she didn't whine or cry or anything. So I thought maybe she just had a sore muscle. So I decided I would see how she did yesterday (Sunday). She seemed to be okay but was still limping a little bit. I'm not sure if I should take her to the vet or not. She's not crying or in any noticeable pain, just seems to be walking with a slight limp sometimes. I mean she's running and jumping like normal. Any idea what it could be and if you think I should take her to the vet? |
Is she limping in her hind leg? If so, you need to have your vet check and make sure she doesn't have a luxating patella. They are very common in Yorkies. You say she normally jumps which can also cause them. Here is some information about them: http://www.peteducation.com/article....&articleid=457 |
My thoughts exactly! Keep us posted on your sweety! |
Bella went thru that at the same age about....she sprained her front leg and wouldnt jump I did take her to vet and he said its just sprained, and would tqake a long time to heal cuz they continue jumping and re-spraining. it took about 3 months for her to stop yelping when she jumped on it. A quick X-ray will answer everything. Hope that helps :) Hope she feels better soon. |
Poor baby! If it's not a sprain or LP, there could be a tear. That's what happened to my Gabby - tore the ACL in her right hind leg. Prayers that it's nothing more than a sprain....please keep us posted! |
Hey all...so she's acting completely normal again so I think she must have just landed on it funny or something. Because last night she wasn't walking with a limp or anything. I'm going to keep my eye on her and if she starts limping again I'm going to take her to the vet. Thanks for all of your help :) |

When is she due to go to the vet again? I wouldn't make a special appointment if she's due to go fairly soon, but it's not something I would ignore for too long. |
I know they said she had a mild grade luxtating patella last vet visit. She's due to go again in June. But I will probably take her in in the next couple weeks to get her toe nails trimmed so I will ask them then. Hopefully she will be okay until then. |
