Heart murmur and started vomitting? 2 Attachment(s) Brady has a 5/6 heart murmur and over the last few months he has thrown up yellow vomit (only 3 times I know of). Is this a sign his murmur is getting worse and to start the heart meds? My vet has said the longer we can hold off on giving him meds the better. I agree because I don't want his kidneys and liver affected over the years to come. I pray every day he will live to be 15 (he is 2), but they say it is severe. He is still very active, so I don't think he needs them yet. Also if anyone has any suggestions on what can help with his murmur that would be great! |
I'm sorry about your baby :( I suggest going to see a cardiologist. |
Sweet Baby ... Welcome to YT and I know you must be so concerned about your baby.. Be patient someone will be by that has gone through this and can help you with advice.. We are so glad you are here! You are not alone! Vicki |
Ruby has vomitted yellow foam sometimes in the mornings if she hasn't eaten much the night before and doesn't eat soon enough in the mornings. It always seems to be associated with an empty stomach. I've heard of others doing this too, and was told it is normal. I hope your baby is okay and doesn't require meds anytime soon. i'm not familiar with heart murmurs in dogs. I know my brother had one as a kid and did grow out of it.....any chance it will not get any worse? |
I'm so sorry that your baby has a 5/6 heart murmur...I hope someone on here has answers for you. Which heart meds do they want to put your sweet baby on? There are supplements that you can give your baby to help protect the liver from the some of the damage that the meds might cause... Ladymom, another member on here, has a baby who has epilepsy and has to take phenobarbitol which is extremely hard on the liver, but because she gives her milk thistle/Marin, her liver is doing great! I will say a little prayer for your baby... |
murmur 1 Attachment(s) Well it is pretty much as bad as it can be. One vet had said it was a possible 6/6. We haven't really discussed the meds yet because he hasn't started coughing a lot. So I'm just supposed to watch if he starts becoming tired easy and coughing. Only after he plays really hard and only sometimes does he cough. Thanks for the concern. Brady's mommy |
This must be a never ending worry for you. I am so sorry. Wishing Brady a long happy life. Sounds like he has a good mommy who will ensure this. Sheilagh |
You need to have Brady taken to a specialist. I found this link that has some rescue babies that had murmurs: http://www.smallpawsrescue.org/pup3/heartreunion.html It talks about "coils" and surgery in some cases. Your baby is so young, a specialist will be able to give the BEST long term care or treatment options. Keep us posted and give Brady extra treats and kisses! :) |
1 Attachment(s) I emailed small paws for advice. I wish I could take him to a specialist, but the vets think surgery is too risky and I really don't have the money being a college student. I'm just hoping my prayers work. :angel2dl: Thanks for the information. |
