Update on Gracie Gracie ate Yorkie Yummies last night for the first time since surgery! She slept like a log last night. She was not very interested in breakfast but she did eat a few tablespoons of turkey (white meat) that I hand fed her each bite. I have her on pain meds every 12 hours now. No BM since Thursday's diarrhea. She will get her stitches out next Wednesday. |
Ahhh...bless her sweet little heart! I am so glad to hear she's doing better! Maddie and Libby send get well kisses! |

Kooper and I are so glad to hear that Gracie is feeling better. We both loved the hide a squirrel pic. Bless her little heart. We hope she is feeling better very soon. |
We are now 10 days post-op. Gracie had another good night last night. I gave her some canned dog food this morning, she would not eat it unless it was off my finger, but then doing that she ate about 3/4 of a small serving. Later, she tried to play with Holly and when I was not looking went up the stairs. Then when I tried to catch her she went back down the stairs, did not bear weight on the back right leg, the same one she has always favored. That is a big no no. I wonder if it has become habit for her not to bear weight on that leg when she goes down the stairs? No poop since last Thursday's diarrhea, but other than that she definitely seems to be feeling better. She gets sutures out and bandages either off or changed on Wednesday. |
I'm so happy to hear Gracie is doing so well....she is a sweetheart...a real trooper!! ...saying a prayer to continue her speedy recovery..kisses |

glad Gracie is doing so well |
Gracie had a normal BM yesterday afternoon. This was the first normal one since surgery! I stopped her pain meds yesterday and she seems to be doing okay, but is not quite as active so she may still be hurting some. She did eat breakfast on her own today ( I did not have to hand feed her). I probably won't post an update again until after she sees the vet on Wednesday, unless something unusual comes up. |

Latest update Here is the thread with the latest update. Thanks everyone.http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=115300 |
Thanks for all of your PMs asking about Gracie. She is doing well. Neither one of us could stand having her indoors for another sunny day. I bought her a stroller and took her to the park. She so loved it! She got to see a lot of her friends (both people and canine). I think she really enjoyed the fresh, brisk air and sunshine. I will post a pic in another thread about strollers. Activity restrictions end on Saturday. I have lots of stairs in my home so i don't think I'm going to be letting her run up and down them like a crazy girl. I will let her take herself potty at night and that should be enough of stairs until her rehab period is over. The vet did not give any restrictions on stairs during the 30-day rehab period, I just don't feel comfortable with them yet. |
