I wonder if everything is going ok. They say no news is good news but I'm still worried. |
HI Everyone! Thank you for all the kind words. IT has been such a tearing few days. Lily is doing Great! THey did the surgery and they found a piece of Toy that we gave that was enlarged in her intestines. I could not believe it. THey had to remove some of the bad intestines as well. They gave me back the piece and you would be amazed that this was in her little body. I am so upset. This was a TOY that we purchased at Target. BOOTS and Barkley. The doctors were amazed on what size this was and that a toy can actually piece off like that. So my husband and family think I should go after Target for the VET bill. So I dont know what to do. Anyway. I just came from seeing her and she looks awesome. She has lost some wieght which I expect after vomiting for 5 days. She started to eat a little tablespoons at a time and she has not thrown up at all today. They took her off the IV and her incision looks great almost healed. She is drinking and very peppy. She was so excited to see me. I felt so bad leaving her she was crying when i left. IT just breaks my heart. So i think Tomorrow she will be home. I will be so glad when she comes home so I can care for her. I am so glad this is over. I have no idea how much this VET bill is and what they will charge me or if they overcharge me. So We will see. I promise when she is home I will let you know as she is doing and send some pictures. I wanted tolknow Cali if you read this if NOT I will email you. I saw that you put a ONEZ on your baby. Can you tell me what you got and what size and I think that is just a great Idea. Thanks again to all for your sweet kindness and any more advice would be even better for a speedy recovery for my Lily. :) Thanks again Cathy |
Hi Cathy, I am so happy you posted again! I've been thinking about Lily since we first met the other night. I'm so glad she is on the road to recovery! I can't wait to see pics of her. This is great news :) |
so glad Lily is doing well after surgery. its amazing what these guys can eat and manage to swallow sometimes. Can you tell us exactly what toy she ate? A lot of use shop at target and buy their toys so if we have that toy too we'll know to either take it away or be extra careful. Also, its not Targets fault. If anything, you should try to get Boots and Barkley to pay for the surgery. They're the ones that made the toy. I'd definitely call and tell them and ask them to pay the bill. I don't know if they will but i'd try anyway. |
HI Kellie BOOTS AND BARKELY is Target own brand. It was a Yellow very hard Yellow Chicken that squeaked. it had 2 little nub feet. PLEASE DONT GET THAT TOY. IF I COULD FIND A PICTURE ONLINE I WILL POST IT I PROMISE |

i don't have that toy luckily. I'm sorry Lily ate it :( Its good she's eating small bits and keeping it down. As far as at home recovery, you'll need to keep her quiet and confined. Do not allow any running, jumping, or playing. She shouldn't be allowed to do any jumping at all and make sure she doesn't jump on or off furniture. She can stretch too much and pull her stitches. Keep her away from her stitches, try the onsie or put a shirt on her that's long enough to cover her stitches. When she cannot be watched she should be kept in a crate or expen so she doesn't get into anything. I prefer putting e-collars on them when you aren't home or you are sleeping and can't watch them. It only takes a few minutes for them to rip out their stitches :( i've seen many surgeries like this and i've seen the good and the bad results. keeping them quiet until their stitches come out is key. :) good luck!! can't wait to see pictures of Lily!! |
Glad to read that she's doing better. It's so scary with toys because you never know if they'll be able to chew them apart or not. |
I'm so glad to hear that things are going well. :) Thanks for the warning about the toy. |
We are so happy that Lilly is doing great. I have been checking this thread frequently looking for some good news. Hopefully she will be home in your loving arms tomorrow, and you can care for her as only you can. Keep us posted! |
Happy to hear Lily is doing fine!! |
I just now found this and am so relieved to read the happy outcome, that she's gonna be okay!  My Starr wasn't as lucky, she didn't make it after the surgery:( But that was the vet's fault. long story. Now I'm a lot more vigilant about what's left laying around (a piece of pencil got my girl, go figure!). She was three years old and not much of a chewer, but now I know that dogs will sneak things sometimes. If it were me, I'd definitely go after Target AND Boots and Barkley. If a little dog like Lily can get a piece off, what would happen if a BIG doggie chewed on it, geez:eek: Anyway, I'm SO glad that Lily is doing well:love: |
So glad Lily is doing well after surgery!! Sending Lily hugs. |
Praise the Lord....prayers were answered. |
Sending healing thoughts to Lily. Warmly, Deborah |
Things took a turn for the worse for my Little Lily Today she woke up vomoting and not looking good at all. MY eyeballs are swallon from crying so much. We transferred her to a emergency Vet Today for around the clock care. They did another SONO and they found that there could be a few things wrong. Her intenstines look irrirated and her incision was red. and her white blood cells are very high. SO this is what is going on now. and how he explained 1- Something could have happened with the Surgery 2- The Vet that did the surgery might have been in there too long which can cause pancreastitis 3-Or maybe there is some form of leak around the repair of the intestines SOOO , he upped her antibotics and alot more fluids and will redo another SONO if she seems a little better in the AM, if so they will wait another day.. IF she is still the same they will re-operate again and explore. They will also put a feeding tube in her for nutrition. She has not eaten in 8 days now all fluids She just looks horrible. I so besides myself. |
