Scruffy going strong with CHF well, just an update. Scruffy was diagnosed with congestive heart failure 2 years ago Jan. He is on Lasix, aminophylline, and enacard...he is doing well. He recently had a collapsed trachea as well, but breathing fine and happy as a lamb---except for his cough which is good most days and bad some. I am just letting all know that when he was first diagnosed he was given 3 weeks to 6 mos.....I am fortunate to have him still, and hope that he continues well, for many more mos. I do know that I need to prepare but for now he is a very happy little 15 year old! There is some hope for these dreaded diagnoses sometimes and love them and take care of them and thats all we can do--thanks to all for your support! |
That's wonderful! Yeah Scruffy. :D |
Thanks Judy!..He is right now "rawring" at me and barking in demand for some attention while wagging! He loves lettuce and baby raw carrots and that is what his favorite food is. so now he's chomping away.....after doing his rolly-polly in his bed-----what joy to see him happy still! |
I wish you many more happy times with your gentleman. You must be an awfully good mommy - you've beaten the odds. We done and all the best. Sheilagh |
my 14 year old yorkie tye also has the same problem. hes been on steroids for over 2 years and heart meds for over a year now. i see in his meds hes given aminophylline, tye has a steroid to help with the coughing but cos of this he cant have his arthritis meds as the two dont mix so i may ask about aminophylline. glad your little one is doing so well:aimeeyork |
If that is him in your avatar he is adorable - smiling! Wishing you many more memories with Scruffy :) Lucy sends a kiss and a wink;) |

What a sweet boy!! Maybe he's doing so well because his favorite foods are lettuce and baby carrots!! He's eating his salad and staying healthy! |
