Cut on Ear I took Cooper to the groomer's for the first time today. He looks adorable, but they cut his ear with the razor! They put something on his ear to stop the bleeding. I tried to swing by my vet, just to have them take a look, but they were closed. Is there something I should be looking for, in terms of an infection? |
Poor Cooper! He is such a precious pup! I would call the vet emergency number. Someone should call back. Maybe a little bacitracin or neosporon may help prevent infection. I don't think I would use that groomer again. Poor baby. |

If the cut isn't deep and its just a nick the neosporin will do just fine. |
It's not that deep, so I think I will put a little ointment on it. I will keep an eye on him and if it gets worse, I will take him to the vet. I will definitely be finding a new groomer! |

I am sure it is nothing to worry about. I groom my own Yorkies and every now and then I will nic an ear if they jerk unexpectedly. Of course I get upset with myself when that happens but I just tell my baby I am so sorry and I give them lots of extra hugs and kisses. Don't be too upset with your groomer......anyone that grooms dogs knows that this can happen occasionally. If it happens very often then you might want to look for another groomer. |

Poor little guy Years ago my groomer cut about half my toy poodle's ear completely OFF. I was so sad and shocked. Poor little guy always had one ear flopped down and one up from then on. They even charged me for the grooming, and no apology. Said they had "a little accident." |

Mogli used to be HORRIBLE at the groomers! The lady would come out and show me all the scratch marks he gave her! Can't say I blame him, never seemed like much fun. It was always an adventure when I'd pick him up to see how shaved he would be. A few times they only did his body and said he'd have to come back for the face, 'cause he was being such a pain! I'd usually inspect him to see if they got him. He'd have a mark or two from the clippers once a in a while. He was just happy to be back home with daddy. If it was just a nick, that's not a big deal. 1/2 cut off ears and eyes popping out is another story! |
