Her pictures make me want to cry :( Lacy has grade 3 in her right leg and grade 2 in her left leg and I'm so worried she'll need surgery one day. Breeders have got to start getting their dogs patellas cleared before breeding and stop breeding dogs with LP (even only grade 1). It may not be life-threatening, but it can be painful and is an expensive and traumatic surgery. I truly believe LP could be bred out of dogs if breeders would carefully screen all of their dogs...but of course that will most likely never happen. I just feel so bad for dogs with LP..I worry about Lacy's little knees a lot :( |

Aw poor little girl. I think she looks adorable in her little casts though. I'll keep her recovery in my prayers! Good luck! |
Bless her sweet little heart ~ Gracie I hope you start to feel better real soon. Sending prayers your way. Roxie sends lots of gentle hugs and kisses. Thank you so much Melonie for sharing your experiences with Gracie's LP surgery and recovery. I can only imagine how heartbreaking it must be to have to watch your sweet little girl in such pain. My heart goes out to you and Gracie. My little girl Roxie also has LP's. |
Thank you for sharing your story lily is going to go through this soon, she is stage 2 and you have answered so many of my questions and let me know what the post op is going to be, I hope she gets well soon. O did you use a reg. vet or go to an ortho surgeon. |
I hope Gracie is resting peacefully tonight. |
Sending hugs to poor little Gracie and to Mom. I hope that she heals quickly and completely. |
Poor little lovey. Makes me so sad for the little tyke. I hope the pain goes away soon. We had to drug our little Pookie up pretty good after her spay surgery last year. She'd start to shake every 4 hours, and she was in bad shape the first 3 days, even tho she was determined to get the stitches out, little stink. We had to request more pain pills for her because she didn't get over the pain for about 4 days. Are you in the Yorkie Meetup group locally? We bring our Pookie to those. We're on the Eastside as well. Pookie usually hides under a chair most of the time, but we hope she'll get used to the others one day. |
Bless you and your baby!! My heart goes out to you both. Gracie is adorable. Thank you for sharing pics. L.P. was common even 30 years ago, when there were a lot less yorkies around. My first yrokie had very mild L.P., did not require surgery, her parents were imported from England and were top class yorkies those days. Just one of those things. :( You are a wonderful mom for taking time off work to care for her. I hope she has a speedy recovery. Prayers coming your way. Hugs Sheilagh. |
