Oh my goodness. I hope she is ok.. please keep us updated on her. I would love to know more about this. I have a small boy that has LP. He is 5 and I do not want to do surgery unless I absolutely have to.
Also can you tell me how much this procedure costs. It seems to vary so much around North America.
pooh's mum | So far I have about $3000 invested in Gracie's knees. The pre-op x-rays under anesthesia were about $350. Today's bill for the hospitalization and surgery was $2750. This includes 3 take-home meds, an Elizabethan collar and cast covers should she want to go outside for a minute. She has to go back in two weeks to get her sutures out and bandages/cast changed. That might need to be done under anesthesia if she cannot tolerate it without. The charge for that is not included in the procedure fees. In spike of the cost, I feel like Gracie had an excellent surgeon and top of the line care. She was quite the popular patient, everyone knows her by name and everyone had been visiting with her while she was there.
Gracie is on a strong pain killer and an anti-inflammatory medication, as well as some cream for her groin which is being rubbed by the bandages/cast. She seems quite happy to be home but is very very tired. I think the pain meds make her sleepy as well. Feel free to ask any questions. |
