Post Surgery questions Riley just got neutered on friday and hasnt really had much of an appetite ...hes doing relatively well just a little more tired then ussually... but this morning he had diarhhea (his first bm since friday morn) and when i tired to get him to eat he just threw it up? is this normal or doe she have a virus of some sort? |
It would be normal to vomit after anesthesia but since it has been so long I don't know. Are his gums pink? If his gums are pink (not pale or white) I would just watch. If they aren't pink then he needs to be seen now. I wouldn't be convinced it's a virus but I would be nervous about it being a complication if it continues... Can you call your vet today? |
his gums seem to still be normal in colour..he was a little bit more energized last night and this mornign but now hes just sleeping again...hes drinking and the only thing i can get him to eat is some roasted chicken..hew ont eat his food... im going to try and call the animal hospital and see if this is normal i guess |
Maybe some plain white ricen and boiled ck breast with no seasoning at all may help, I think is a good idea to call your vet. Hope your baby feel better soon:aimeeyork  |
What pain meds did they give him? Is he acting lethargic? |
If he has not eaten much I would expect vomiting. Like another said, try the bland diet of boiled chicken and rice until the diarrhea is gone for 24 hours. |
he hasnt been on any pain meds since they gave him a shot of something on friday before i picked him up..he hasnt been in pain at all when i pick him up or anything its actually hard for me to get him to sit still!!! lol... hes actually just started eating his dog food right now!! so now im hoping his diarhhea will go away! thanks everyone |
Armani also had diarhhea for a couple of days following his neuter :( its sad I know but then on like the 3rd day he was back to his normal self. He was also neutered on a friday so I believe on Monday he was back to normal :) |
Small dogs an anesthesia aren't a good combo. After a few days they get better, just watch out for things like lethargy, blood in stool, and blood in vomit. |
you can give him keopectate and metamucil i hope hes better |
