OMG!! Help. Have absolutely no clue what this is. This morning Riley got a COOKED hamburger pattie. He got a few bites of it, but it wasnt anything big. Well this made his poop darker than normal. He has been sleeping off and on today and hasn't had the same energy he normally does. Well all of a sudden about 15 minutes ago, I smelled this awful smell. I looked and he had pooped. His poop was orange and really soft. At first, I didn't make a big deal out of it because Riley sometimes has softer stool. Well he went and sat on a white blanket. He got up and it was red!!! Like blood red. I started freaking out. I looked at his butt and it was covered in blood. So I cleaned him off really quick and was trying to think if it was blood or if he had ate something that made his poop red. Anyway, (gross part) I put on some latex gloves and kinda looked in his poop. There was this thing, it was about the roundness of a pencil. It looked like a worm. I'm sure it was, but would this cause him to bleed when he passed it. I'm sure it probably did since it was big. Ok so now I have to figure out how the he** he got worms. Do you think he will be ok till morning? |
Oh my....I'm sorry I can't be of any help to you. Do you have a ER vet near you or a vet that is on call, I know with mine I can call and ask and they tell me if it can wait till morning or not. Good Luck I hope you figure things out!! .......I do know with horses that is a very bad situation and needs to be fixed asap...... |
 bloody poop really scares me. I don't really know what to do too but call the vet or emergency vet to get advice, they know better. I hope somebody here can give you more advice. :( Oh I feel bad..... I'm sorry:( |
So I called the ER Vet and they asked if he was de-wormed. He got de wormed about a month ago. She said that might not have got all of them out?? So he might have had a worm in his system this entire time?!?!!?!  The thing was HUGE so I'm sure thats what it was. He will be going to vet at 8am tomorrow.:D I swear Riley is always giving me the scares!!:) Now that he passed it, hes bouncing around and playing more. Lol. |
ugh, that must be awful :( , worm inside his tummy:(, I am glad he's okay:p . Shakespeare is the only one that scares me alot:eek: . I feel for you.  |
I wonder if it was a tape worm, gross! How often should we have them dewormed anyways? Maybe he pooped blood because the hamburger upset his intestines,Rocco does that ,he has colitis. |

I was wondering if Riley is ok?? poor boy I have never had Kayah dewormed.. but she's never had worms.. are you supposed to give them some kind of meds or something even if they don't have it? just to prevent the worms?? |
I am sorry to hear this but I am glad the little guy is feeling much better! BUT pleas take the worm in tomorrow with you so the vet will know exactly what it was and how to treat. I HOPE THIS GETS TO YOU BEFORE ITS TOO LATE |

Don't panic. I think most likely the hamburger just irritated the intestinal lining. When the lining gets irritated they pass a globby bloody mess. Over the years I have had mine do this when they eat something that does not agree with them. It is gross looking. I quit giving my Yorkies beef because it does tend to upset their tummies. I always just give mine a little canned pumpkin and they are just fine. Of course if the problem continues you should get him checked out by the vet. |
How did the vet appt. go this morning? I hope the little guy is feeling better today! All of my dogs get dewormed twice a year although we do live on an acreage. I don't know if it's any different for dogs that are in the city... |
The bloody poop most likely came from where the "worm" detatched from..they are parasites, they live by embedding their mouth in the intestinal lining and when they are released, it can leave an area that bleeds... |
I'd definetly take him to the vet. |
How did the vet appt go this morning ,is your baby feeling better. |
