PeePeePeeeMANNNNnnnnn I have a few questions. Parker has been checked up just this past week and his a healthy boy (aside from his LP) Well I have noticed that he pee's a lot I was thinking that his size (2.2lbs) had something to do with it but now I am beginning to wonder. We woke up at 4AM-- he peed on the potty pad (GOOD BOY, and a treat) then from that point on I have seen him "marking" 3 times since and its only 6AM. Oh, and he hasn't had a lick of water yet. Now we have been doing really well with our pee pee pads and I have been so proud of him but now getting on my hands and knees in his part of the living room I am finding these some what hard spots of where he has "marked" all around the room. He doesn't show any discomfort when he pees, yes most of the time he licks himself but 75% of the time he is cleaned off with a baby wipe. His pee is yellow but not a brownish color or any signs of blood. He is a happy boy and I have bought him belly bands but to be honest with you he HATES them, stops playing and freezes the second I put them on him, oh and starts to shake...I don't like seeing him this way at all so I prefer no diapers or belly bands. I am kind of at a loss as to what to do. Blood test? Urine tests? Is this normal because of his size? (not being able to hold it as long as a bigger dog could?) Have I just been fooled to believe he is almost potty trained and he really isn't :( ADMIN, this isn't really an emergency so if this needs to go in health in diet go ahead and move it! Sorry about that |
Is he just 'boy marking'? Or is it a substantial amt. everytime? My boys, right before and right after they were neutered, got to an age where they 'played peepee'. They had a blast lifting their legs 92,000 times on any vertical surface they could find. They'd leave quarter sized puddles for the next guy to inspect and leave his token too. LOL... You can always have it checked for issues, as well as a blood test to see how his kidneys are concentrating. Joy |

Bloodwork isn't usually done first for urine problems, urinalysis is. Only you will be able to decide if he is going to much, too often, weird places because you know him. If he is peeing a normal or almost normal amount every 1/2 hour or hour and is over 5 or 6 months he might need to be checked. If he is peeing small spots then it could be marking. Ellie can go on a walk and she is still marking when we get back. They only go little bits at a time for marking and store the rest. Is he going in unusual places also? |

Yeah, I went thru that stage too! He's being a boy and a puppy still. I am thinking he has too much free room. You might need to limit his freedom, blocking off certain areas, etc. I remember at that age, I would wash their blankets and beds and a few hours later, pee again  Start back at the basics, and PRAISE and TREAT like CRAZY for peeing on the pads. :D - Also neuter as soon as you can, that will help too! TJ was suppose to be at 6 months and he was under 3lbs at the time, but he got sick and I had to wait another month, during that month he 'learned' how to lift his leg to pee...(I wish he would have stuck to the sqwat (sp?) |
Hello I only post by experience because I am so new at this.. My Bleu Boy has been peeing about every 30 min to an hour. I mentioned it to the vet and when he had been there this past week they gave him a shot and the side effects was frequent urination hope this helps.... Will keep him lifted and pray you get answers real soon! Hugs Vicki |

I know what it is like about the "Spoiled Baby Boy" part. TJ LIKES to have a fresh pad too! He will only poop on a fresh pad. I use liter boxes with the pee pads inside, if there is too much pee, TJ will just lift his leg and pee down the side of the box, b/c he refuses to step on an already pee'd on pad - BUGGER :p Roxy - she could can less! As a matter of fact, she pees first and then does hurdles over the 3 boxes in circles and then poops right on top of her pee spot  |

I have three in a row. They work great, I got them b/c when they were younger they would pee right on the edge of the pad, and I was constantly cleaning up the floors. With the Boxes, they have to step into the box to pee. Now, since TJ can be a bugger and pee down the side, I still have to line the floor underneath with pee pads to catch that missed pee :( If only he would stop doing that, it would be 100% great! Mine still pee alot. I think b/c they can pee when ever they want they do. Plus I home cook and they eat a lot of apples, lots of moisture and water, so they pee often. And then there are days that they don't move from the couch and only pee like once. |
