albon bleu just started dry heaving can i give him albon for this it is after hours and this is a roller coaster to say the least! |
Why don't you grill up a nice piece of chicken breast and give him that. Has he eaten recently. Usually when the dry heaves happen it's because their tummies are empty. Maybe scramble up an egg. The protein is good and it will cook up fast. |
do you have a 24 hour vet you can call??? We have one here in Ma. I wonder if you can call this one and they can help over the phone? I don't know what you do for dry heaves... 1-508-398-7575 24 hour vet in MA...see if they can help you! |

they gave us albon for precaution for coccidia because bleu had blood in stool but his visit on saturday he did not have it so they cancelled giving albon but i still have it i just was grasping for straws sooooooooooo new to this I know nothing i should have came here before i bought my first yorkie however i looked and reserached for over 5 years but not the severe stuff .. I THOUGHT AWWWWWWWWWW THAT WONT HAPPEN TO ME! BROOKE I DID CALL BUT NO HELP OTHER THAN DONT GIVE ALBON! HELP ENOUGH I GUESS HA BUT SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO SEE HIM AND I TOLD HER WE WERE IN TEXAS ! |
Albon is for worms so its going to do absolutely nothing for dry heaving. sorry. |
Several of my dogs have not been able to tolerate chicken and if it was spicy it may have been what caused the tummy upset. I have learned to just keep mine on their strict dog food only diet and it helps with some of the tummy issues. I feel so bad you have had such a hard start with Blue. As they get older things tend to settle down. |
Yes, Albon is for Coccidia. I've always kept a jar of Gerber Turkey on hand for tummy upsets. A little of that warm with just a sprinkle of rice baby cereal. Sometimes the Albon can be upsetting itself, especially on an empty tummy. Maybe that's all it was.... Hugs to you and Bleu, Joy |

I just looked at Maggie's instructions for Metacam and it says that it can cause digestive upsets. To lessen the likelihood always give with food or immediately after a meal. Should any vomiting diarrhea or loss of apetite occur, discontinue meds & call office. I know that you've had experience with the Metacam, I just wanted to add what it says here. |
