Throwing up after neuter? My new boy Mochi is two years old and rescued from a shelter, when I picked him up from the Shelter/his Neuter yesterday he threw up his food, today each time he ate a few hours later he threw up too, now it's been over 24 hours and he just threw up his dinner. he doesnt seem to feel bad though and acts normal otherwise, is this normal to puke for the 1st day or so after the surgery? He also wheezes/makes an airy/whistling gaggy sound all the time when he is excited or drinks water..I really hope it's not a collapsing trachea..I dont know anything about this problem so I will have to have my vet look at him I guess. |
I just replied to your other post about larger Yorkies! Hope Mochi is ok ...the anaesthetic could have made him sick?? I would definitely get your vet to check him anyway. I also hope that he does not have CT as my one girl (the larger one!!) has it badly. It could be that he has a bit of chestiness after the surgery?? |

I would definately call your vet. Diggy was neutered Monday :( and the vet said its normal on the day of the surgery for him to vomit and to limit his food but day 2 he should be over it and eating fine. I am sure they all react differently to anest. but to be safe especially if you hear weezing...Id have the vet give you some answers to be safe. When it comes to lungs and breathing ya just dont wanna mess around and guess....I hope he is feeling better soon and give him kisses from Bella and Diggy!!! ;) |

I am taking him to the vet in 30 mins, he's still throwing up bile today and whenever he gets excited he makes that air sucking noise. I am hoping he just has kennel cough/yuck or some other normal crud he picked up at the shelter and it's not something more serious. I will keep you guys posted. |
How is he today? |
Well he has hookworms (see my other post on here about that) , an ear infection, and slight pneumonia, so he is on a BUNCH of meds, but he is already feeling better and hopefully will be just fine. |
