infected nipple please help hey guys . i noticed last night when i went to bed .. that corona had an infected nipple .. i thought it was a tick so i tried to get it off .. then i noticed it was her nipple .. i think it just maybe a duct that is clogged .. but im not sure all i know is its red .. she will lay there and let me touch it and squeeze on it and every thing .. so it must not hurt her that much .... but i just wanted to know what i should do .. should i wait and see if he goes down .. or should i take a needle to it and clear it out .. im not sure . .. or to the vet .. its just kinda like a pimple looking thing.. but im worried .. cuz it swollen .. |
Is she a nursing mom? No matter what I would not take a needle to this. |
no shes not a mommy .. and she went in to her frist heat about a month ago .. if that matters .. im just worried .. |
now it does bleed and look to have a white something in it too |
I would have a vet look at it. If you have cabbage in the house you could wrap her teat in this until you got her to a vet. Nursing moms use cabbage from what I understand from my niece. |
wow .. cabbage will help ??? |
I have never used this but a breeder friend has and my niece did when she was weaning her little girl. This is a short version What are cabbage compresses used for? Engorgement. Extreme cases of oversupply, when the usual measures for decreasing supply (adjusting nursing pattern, nursing "uphill," etc.) are not working During weaning, to reduce mom's discomfort and decrease milk supply. Sprains or broken bones, to reduce swelling. |
nipple Just put a warm compress on it several times a day and watch it...it should clear up with no problem..if not see the vet. |
My vet always recommended warm compresses -- so did my Doctor when I had mastitis. |
