Bengi's throwing up!!! Help!!!!!!!! Bengi has been throwing up. He has thrown up everything he ate, and now he's throwing up a yellow foam. He ate some chicken and it looks like it wasn't good for his tummy. I'm on vacation in a cabin and coming back home tomorrow. Is there anything I can do to help him, any home remedy??? Any advice???? |
Can you give him some ice cubes to lick so he doesn't dehydrate? Also try just rice and a little cottage cheese if available. Do you have any pancake syrup, honey or karo syrup or Nutracal with you? Give a little to your dog, if he's small, so he doesn't go hypoglycemic. Once the yellow foam starts that means they're stomachs are empty and sometimes that nauseates them. Our little girl with a very sensative stomach can tolerate plain crumbled-up rice cake and small pieces of apple even when she's sick. |
Actually since he's throw up twice, what i would do it not give him anything to eat for 12 hours. If he is one to worry about glycemic issues then after a little while you can give him a lick of nutrical or whatever you use. too much water can also make him throw up so be careful with his water intake. after 12 hours you can try chicken and rice or boiled hamburger and rice. |
Aw poor little man. I agree with Kellie. Don't give him anything to eat for the rest of the day... if he will keep fluids down then try and get him to have water.. he must have gotten into something... poor guy sick on his vacation :( we send get well hugs! |
pedialie helps him not get dehydrated |
I agree-don't give him anything to eat, except for maybe some Nutri-Cal and possibly some Pedialyte after a few hours. That should give him some strength and keep him hydrated. After 12 hours have passed without a bout of vomiting, you might try giving him a tablespoon of yogurt (plain or vanilla)-try one like Dannon Activa that has probiotics that aid in digestion. That will help to get him back on track, and he will probably like the way it tastes too! :) |
Hope Bengi is feeling better. |
awww I hope Mr Bengi feels better soon!!! |
My first yorkie, Kurby, had this happen to him when he was about a year old. The vet told me to give him boiled hamburger and rice. He loved it and was able to keep it down. She diagnosed him with gastroenteritis and put him on an antibiotic as well. Hope your baby feels better soon! Tanya |
almost forgot to post an update. Bengi didn't throw up during the night that day, but did once in the morning before we went on the road. Then he was ok during the whole trip (12 hours...) so he's fine. I think it wasn't something he ate, but it happened because he got too cold. He's not used to cold weather; the night he started vomiting he was outside for a while and the ground was a little wet, so he's paws were really cold. He's been fine since then, thanks everybody for your help :) |
Glad Benji is doing better!! :aimeeyork |
Oh good! Glad to hear he's feeling better! Poor guy! |
