Vomitting for 2 weeks I really need you advice..My 7 month old puppy has been vomitting every night, from 2-10 am, in the morning. His vomit is yellow and I do not see any chunks or pieces of anything in it. Last night, he vomitted again at 3:00 am, and it was a lot thicker but still yellow. After he vomitted three times, he began to cry and did not want to be touched at all. This is VERY unlike him, because he always likes to be next to someone and touch them. I also have NEVER heard him cry before. His abdomen/body also seemed to be throbbing and swollen. After about 15 minutes he came over and laid next to me, but was very tired (of course). He slept through the night. This morning he has energy and is eating. This is very strange, because he is still energetic and likes to eat and drink his food. What could this be?? Call your vet and get him in as soon as possible. No dog should be vomiting for over 2 weeks.:eek: |

As the others have said ... take your baby in ASAP! The vet will need to check for various possibilities ... at the very least they will recommend some antacid (pepcid) ... Sometimes they puke when stomach is on empty and acid builds up. However, since it's been 2 weeks, your baby could be developing ulcers and is obviously in discomfort. Please take him to the vet ASAP. |
The vet is your best bet. However, just a question. When do you feed your puppy? First thing in the morning? If not, your puppy may be experiencing what ours did whenever she didn't eat right away. She'd get nauseated and vomit bile, which came out as yellowish foam. We solved the issue by getting her to eat first thing in the morning. It wasn't easy since by that time she had an empty stomach and always got nauseated when her tummy was empty. But she would accept crumbled up rice cake and a few little pieces of apple (without skin). Once she got that down, she'd chow down on her real food. The other thing I'm wondering is if you've fed your puppy anything with oil or greasy stuff lately. I made the mistake of putting fish oil in my puppy's food once and she wouldn't touch her food for a day after that. We also discovered that canned foods that contained higher levels of fat were indigestible for her. Take him to the vet, and pay attention to the questions I asked since they may have a bearing on what the vet decides is wrong. |
Im hoping your at the vet right now... and if not, I think that's where you need to be. I would be seriously concerned if my baby was continuosly vomiting for that long.... Please keep us posted :) |
Oh my yes take him to the vet ASAP This can causehim to get dehydrated etc. Since this has gone on so long you definitely need your vet to give him a complete check up. Let us know how he does. Deana Prestigeous |
Shelby did the same thing. The fact that he seems fine during the day makes me think he gets an upset stomach when his tummy is empty. I found giving Shelby a tiny bit of cottage cheese or plain yogurt right before bed took care of it. She also starts off the day with a spoon full of one or the other. |
This deff calls for a vet visit, I never let my babies go over a day when vomiting. Ya just never know, How old is your baby?? |
I'm sure the vet will better be able to tell what's going on. I hope your baby gets to feeling better really soon. Please keep us updated on how it goes. |
I hope you get this baby to the vet ASAP - that would be the only advice I could give. |

empty stomach Several of my yorkies have had this problem and it was easily solved by making sure to feed more frequent small meals spaced throughout the day and evening |

First of all thank you alllll for your immediate advice...I took Riley to teh vet the next day. He had not vommited in 24 hours and was full of energy and actually as the vet put it "dominant" when he tried to hold him. As for the vomitting, he ruled out parasites because he is up-to-date with all his shots and is given heartguard monthly. He then asked if he is a chewer, which he is..Riley regularly brings in mulch and twigs from the yard and eats my wicker baskets...the vet told me to watch his chewing because it is probably irritating his tummy... I have been watching him and he has not vommited since. I want to thank everyone for all yoru help in this matter!!! Yorkie Talk rocks!!! |
