not sure if it's an emergency i just found a half eaten small apple on the floor. i'm not even sure how my yorkie got it. anyways, i think she may have eaten some of the stem and maybe even seeds. she seems fine now, but what should i do? i googled dogs eating apples and found that the seeds are poisonous. please help. it's been so busy here getting ready for relatives coming tomorrow for christmas, she's been all over, loving the excitement. |
Is there an emergency vet you can call in your area? I would call them first and ask. If you don't have one available, try thse hotlines http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35792 If it was just a few minutes ago, then you might give a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting. Poor baby! Please keep us updated. |
There is a pet poison hotline if you need to know whether to see your vet or not. The # is (888) 426-4435. They ask for a consultation fee in their automated voice system, but when I called the live person never asked for it, so the call was free. |
i'm sorry for updating so late. but, i opted not to call the vet/poison control because when i cut open the half of the apple she didn't eat, I found most of the seeds still there. she's been fine, acting playful and normal and her appetite is still the same. i am letting all of my relatives know to be careful with the foods and not to feed her anything at anytime. she is the life of the party, and everyone loves her, but they don't realize that small dogs are different than big dogs and there needs to be more caution. anyways, sorry for rambling. happy holidays everyone. |
I'm so glad! Thanks for letting us know. :) Enjoy the rest of the holiday with your little party girl. ;) |
