This whole story will go down as one of my favorite Christmas stories this year. I can't begin to tell you how touched I am by your journey to today. I know Annie is smiling down on you and and enjoying watching Tika's antics :) God bless you, |
4 Attachment(s) Tika always makes me laugh. I can't even take a photograph of her without smiling. She is such a little imp and looks like a cartoon character ... LOL |

Just wanted to let anyone who is reading this thread know that I am still open to adopting another Yorkie (male or female) of any age (young or old). If you are looking for an excellent home that can provide virtually unlimited medical care, please drop me a line. I cannot afford to pay a large lump sum to purchase a rescued dog, but have the ability to provide excellent regular vet care and an extremely loving home. Continued contact, updates and even visits would be available. |
the world would be such a happy, loving place if there were more people like you in the world Jamie. thank you for being you. |
I'm just doing what I love to do. It's fun and so incredibly fulfilling. Before Annie came along I would have only wanted a puppy. Now that I've had two older dogs I am hooked. I found this cool article online about adopting older dogs: Top Ten Reasons to Adopt an Older Dog 1. Older dogs are often housetrained. You won't have to go through the difficult stage(s) of teaching a puppy house manners and mopping/cleaning up after accidents. 2. Older dogs are not teething puppies, and won't chew your shoes and furniture while growing up. 3. Older dogs can focus well because they've mellowed. Therefore, they learn quickly. 4. Older dogs have likely learned what "no" means. 5. Older dogs settle in easily, because they've learned what it takes to get along with others and become part of a pack. 6. Older dogs are good at giving love, once they get into their new, loving home. They are grateful for the second chance they've been given. 7. What You See Is What You Get: Unlike puppies, older dogs have grown into their shape and personality. Puppies can grow up to be quite different from what they seemed at first. As well, you can see exactly how much they will shed. 8. Older dogs are instant companions -- ready for hiking, car trips, and other things you like to do. 9. Older dogs leave you time for yourself, because they don't make the kinds of demands on your time and attention that puppies and young dogs do. 10. Older dogs let you get a good night's sleep because they're accustomed to human schedules and don't generally need nighttime feedings, comforting or bathroom breaks. |

[QUOTE=jamiesaari;1621989]I created this video in honour of Annie's tragic life and death ... That is heartbreaking and touching and inspiring. What a beautiful tribute to both you and to Annie! Thank you so much for sharing!! |
Thank you for the touching video. The only problem is that those who need to see it don't. But if you educate even one person, Annie's life was not in vain. Sometimes I feel that all the talk of puppy mills on the news hasn't done one iota to reduce the purchases of puppies at pet shops. Puppy mills are flourishing more than ever, in my opinion, or it may be that I am paying more attention. I have a 10 yr. old, 3.5 lb. female Yorkie who came from what I now realize was a puppy mill. She has never recovered from much of the trauma that she suffered the 9 mo. she was there. I'm loving her as I write with tears in my eyes. May Annie R.I.P. |
