Tiny Yorkies more hairless than normalsized? 1 Attachment(s) Hey guys! This is my first time posting something. I have a yorkie and he's 7 months and less than 2 pounds. He's def. a teacup yorkie. I am growing his hair out but since I starting growing it out, he looks a lil more bald than before. His hair is very thin. Should I be worrying? My friend, who has 3 yorkies, said that some small dogs usually have thinner hair than normal because they are so small. Here's a picture of what he looks like right now. PLEASE HELP! |
Some never have the long or thick coat, but look at it like this.......he will never need to go to a groomers. :) He's so cute and his coat looks just fine! |
thin hair My Feather is 7 1/2 months and 2lb 4 oz. Her hair is not thin at all. If this is as long as it has grown and not been cut there may be a medical problem. There are many possible causes such as hypothroidism that can cause thin hair. Also nutrition may be a problem |
He's a little cutie. I think sometimes the tiny ones have less fur. Welcome to YT> |
Hey, Well my baby is 2 lbs 7 oz and she is 5 months and she is hairy! She is a little bit hairless around her upperchest area. I think your pup is cute and Yorkiedaze is right he will never have to go to the grommers and u wont have to battle with him to get his hair combed. |
Some have more hair than others. If I'm not mistaken, a "correct" coat isn't suppose to be thick. Has anyone else heard this? |
Is this christie? If it is its me sarah. I hope you get the answers:) I have seen some tinies here that have a lot of hair so i dont think it is just the small ones, they all have diff. types of hair. Tho London kinda has thin hair too..its just long so it barely shows. Oh yea i hope you post here more! :) :) |
I dont have any answers for you but thought I would welcome you to YT!! You baby looks cute...can you tell us more about him...more pictures too!! :D Dawn |
Well he got "groomed" by my friend once that was like a month ago. I've gaven him lil snips here and there a couple times. His hair grows but it's just real thin. And yes this is christy sarah! (: I'll write more about Major and Pleasures (my other yorkie that is currently not with me though) a lil later after my finals are over. And thanks for the welcomes! He's not acting weird or anything so I guess I should not worry right? |
WElcome to yt:) My daughters little guy, just under 3pds at 10 mths has very thin hair, his coat is very nice though, lays down and dryes after a bath in 15 mins,My babies with the cotton coat take forever:rolleyes: |
Pixie is my smaller one, 3 1/2 lbs and she has a thin silky coat. I love it and told the breeder if she gets anymore like her I want her. Much easier to take care of. |
So all your babies that have thin hair, can you guys see a like the white skin on their backs when their (if their) hair is/gets short? |

BTW Welcome to YT.. also carefull with the Tcup word. People get mean when they hear it;) |
Have been noticing the same thing with my 2 lb. girl. She has been having issues with fleas lately and I have had to use frontline spray in between her monthly Revolution treatments. Did not know if the frontline or the fleas were causing her to lose some hair. Then I thought about the thyroid problem...what other symptoms besides hair loss do they have? |
Welcome to YT! My Allie was 2.5lbs at 5.5mos old. Her hair was very much like your baby's also. |
