vet time? alright so... when we brought Beagan home at 7 weeks, he slept through the night. Now, at 14 weeks, he wakes up almost every 3 hours. I understand that his bladder is small and that he needs to do his business. So after he does, we put him back in his crate by the bed. Lately, he has been vomiting bile up every couple of hours. Not every night though. He has been hacking and i guess you could call it coughing whenever he gets into a deep sleep or heavy exercise. Anyway, figuring he doesn't hasn't anything in his tummy since his before bed snack, I cook him some egg or give him some organic soy cheese to hold him off until breakfast time. he has had some runny bowel movements lately but they are not consistent. i am worried that he may have kennel cough or even worse, a collapse trachea. he has been a mama's boy more that normal lately too. he's usually curious and can wonder around the house alone, but lately he will not go anywhere without me and hates when anyone but his daddy or i pick him up. at thanksgiving, he got so worked up at one of my distant cousins picking him up he squirted his juices on her. she didn't startle him in the first place, he approached her. i'm sure he was overwhelmed with all the new people he just freaked out. right now at 5:45am, he woke up puking bile in daddy's hand and when i try to feed him he is not interested. i finger fed him and he pushed my hand away with his nose (stating he is not interested) i'm getting a little worried. i'm worried someone fed him something at thanksgiving that could be messing with him *even though i made it clear not to feed him table scraps, i know some people just can't resist a puppy* i also notice his eyes are a little watery vet time? please help. |
I would definitely take him to the vet. It's amazing how quickly these little ones can dehydrate from vomiting or diarrhea. Since he's so young, I'd be especially worried about his coughing and watery eyes since he hasn't had all his shots yet. Often any immunity he may still have from nursing his mom is killed by those first shots so young puppies may be completely unprotected. He hasn't been around other dogs has he? You haven't taken him to pet stores or let him walk where other dogs walk yet I hope. |
Yes, I think its time for the vet! Praying your baby has a quick recovery!:animal36 |
i have three other dogs...but they are all up to date on their shot and are as healthy as can be. he was around a schnauzer that i was unsure about thanksgiving day. it could be anything. since my vet isn't open today, i called a 24 hr care clinic and told them his symptoms and we're going in about a half an hour. scared...worried... thanks for your help everyone! |
i think your pup say be sick. WHen you go ask about kennel cough and parvo. kennel cough usually doesn't have vomiting or diarrhea as its symptoms. |
I hope everything is okay. Honestly, since he is a puppy it sounds serious. |
I agree it's time to visit the vet. |
Let us know what the vet says, okay? We'll be praying for your puppy, |
thank you everyone for your prayers and concerns. since my vet is closed for the holidays until next Wednesday (ridiculous huh?) i took him to the 24hr er vet clinic. his temperature was low and she did say his throat was a little tender his check-up went great. i informed her of all his symptoms and weird behavior. she couldn't diagnose what all this is exactly from (there are so many possibilities: overwhelmed from thanksgiving, unusual food, a exploring a new yard at thanksgiving, dehydration from diarrhea and vomiting, and so on) she gave him a shot and gave me an antibiotic for him. she did not draw any blood (even though i wish she would have, she didn't feel the need to prick him). he will be on the meds for 10 days and he has his normal check up and shots on friday so we will see if he has improved. thanks agian everyone! |
I'm so glad it doesn't seem to be anything serious! |
i hope the antibiotics works. i would have made her do a parvo test. if he's not better by the time your regular vet opens i'd take him there. |

I know spacing puppy shots just right is important but I would not do any right now. Vaccinating a sick animal is not a good idea. Thier immune system is already stressed enough. |
hm maybe you're right. i will still go for the check-up though and schedule shots for when we're feeling better and we know for sure there is nothing wrong. |
