Would you stuff your Yorkie after they die? I dunno if 'stuffing' is the right term, but I mean how taxidermists can freeze your pet after it dies, then 'stuff' them so they look lifelike (though not posable) and actual size of when they die. If anyone knows the correct term, let me know. Has anyone thought about this? I know I hate the thought of my Yorkie dying, but I know it will happen one day. I just hope he has a happy life and that he gets a lot of love during his lifetime. |
I voted "no." Personally, I think it's gross. I would, however, cremate my pet, save the ashes, and have them sprinkled alongside my ashes when my time comes. This is depressing! |
The ONLY reason I would think about doing this is because it would be nice to have a reminder of Yoda around the house after he passes away. The other option would either be cremation, or a little burial somewhere. Do they have doggie graveyards? I think I heard about that sometime. We helped bury Gee (Yoda's first real dog-friend) after he passed away in a nice little area on the property which he loved to roam. Yeah, we are so attached to our little guys it's hard to talk or think about sometimes... |
That whole idea of stuffing a pet is just a bit too creepy for me. My idea would be to just get a digital camera and/or a camcorder and take a TON of pics and clips of your little guy. That way, you can always sit back and reflect on a beloved pet, and see them in their true glory. If it's a video, maybe they'd be running around acting silly, or if it's a pic, maybe you caught a perfect moment. Seeing them more as a stuffed lifeless fixture would just make me sad most likely. :( |
I agree with Junebug. We are going to have them cremated and their ashes will be put in our coffins with us when we go, or who ever is left. We will have a ton of photographs by then and we'll remember all the happy times together and celebrate their life. Its an aweful thought but its something we'll all have to go thu someday. No I would have my pets freeze dried but I would have them cremated. But I have seen a freeze dried yorkie at an antique store. I was so sad when I saw it. It must have been a show dog because it had the most perfect long coat. |
Our girls will be cremated then put in the our coffin, whoever is left. We've discussed that already and hope its a LONG LONG time away for all of us here. There is a pet cemetery nearby but we prefer them to be with one of us. |
I would have them cremated, but never stuffed. If I have to put them down, I will be with them and hold them as I did with my Setter, Rachel. Have any of you read "The Rainbow Bridge?" It is really beautiful....... |
I would never get them stuffed either. I've read the website for Rainbow Bridge. I have a 14 yr old mini poodle named Joline waiting for me there. We had to put her down way back in 1985, she left footprints in my heart. I held her while they gave her that final shot. She looked at me with her sad eyes as if to say " We'll meet again in Rainbow meadows, don't cry". |
:eek: We have some friends who had their huge dog cremated ... had to use a human urn because he was so large. It's comforting for them ... keep it on their nightstand. I would probably do this for Toto ... but "stuffing" ... "freeze drying"??? ... I could never in a bzillion years imagine looking into those lifeless eyes!!! CREEPY bordering on sick! However, I have to lapse into my "Scarlett O'Hara" mode today ... "I will think about that tomorrow, because ... after all .... " ;) |

stuffed Yorkie No..not for me. Most are buried in the backyard. I have 2 that are cremated and I keep them in a box. When I went to the crematorium they had a beautiful brushed, brass box with a Yorkie on it. I wanted to buy it for KC to rest in, but at $500 I passed. |

No way. I had my first maltese put to sleep 2 years ago. I still well up with tears about her being gone. I feel like if I was to see her everyday, lifeless as a stuffed animal, it would hurt more than it already does. |
