leash walking... ordeal? I am just wondering how many of you have trouble walking on a leash.... well , I mean your dogs on a leash....haha. well maybe in my case ... they walk me. |
My yorkie also pulls me all the way! :) |
lexi is good until she spots another animal, or someone riding a bicycle, she will go after them barking and it scares the heck out of them..i have to laugh. or a motorcycle that passes, she runs to it and barks like crazy... at the same time, she files her own nails everynight.. other than that, its a pleasure |
Buddy is in full speed whenever we go for a walk for the first couple of minutes. It's so funny. His head is down and off he goes full speed ahead not even looking just walking as fast as he can. He kills my arm. He slows down eventually. We been working on leash walking since he was 3months old, he's now 3yrs old:eek: |
Conner races, but he stops at every tree and pole to sniff! |
Layla will walk beside me if i tell her to, but she just LOVES to investigate so i let her lead the way :) |
I have one of each! Cooper is a perfect little leash walker, Carley thinks she needs to lead the way. Occasionally I will hook them up to their coupler, and Carley's pulling just annoys the heck outta Cooper :p I was hoping he would be a good influence on her, and goodness he does try, but she is just pulling and pulling! |
I have come a long way to get my girls to walk right beside me! We are finally there! After watching many episodes of Ceasar Milan the Dog Whisperer, I have finally got it down! I can now walk my 2 yorkies and my husky all by myself with no trouble! My husband can even take Baby on a bike ride and Baby jogs right beside him! |
well, I see there are those pullers like 2 of mine. I have 2 that are leaders but the pullers are really bad pullers. (my husband trained them to walk). I am sure I would have done a much better job. |
My two pull and race for the first 5 mins of our walk. After they get their energy out, they settle down and walk beside me until they see either a car or another animal. Then it's crazy time. Getting them to walk properly is a constant work in progress. |
After Uma burns off a little energy she is fine. She does like a nice clip to the walk though. |
When i walk out the door to our apt on the 3rd floor i close the door with the key while i am doing this he is whining like theres a big treat for him downstairs and he cant wait to go get it. when it comes to outside he leads the way as much as i try and keep him next to me he loves to sniff the grass and all that and besides he's a puppy he's curios so i let him what the heck :aimeeyork |
None of the choices applies to us:laugh: Luna will just lie there and will not walk, I have to drag her gently a little, she'll take a few steps, then lie down again:laugh: Izzy is just a wild thing, wrapping the leash around my legs. We don't get out much:o |
Siu Pao pulls hard for the first 20 minutes and then he is good, walks nicely by my side. |
Mine runs out ahead. I keep her under control though. I also walk my Shih Tzu at the same time and she's more of a slow pace, so I find Abbie (my Yorkiechon) looking back alot like "Come on!!!". I don't mind. Once in a while I try the "walk by my side" thing, And they'll do it if under strict control. But I truly don't care....I'm out to walk for their pleasure as well as mine, so as long as we're safe "do your own thing" is my motto. Oops uh oh,....Cesar Milan is ringing my doorbell right now to tell me off, excuse me... lol!!! :D I tell you what though, if I want a nice fast paced walk for exercise, Abbie my Yorkiechon is the one to take. My Shih Tzu Jade is more built for comfort, not speed. But it's so sad if I take one and not the other.... so both go at once. |
