New Yapper Poll! Jack is a yapper. His "bark" is more high-pitched and rapid. Eddie barks like a big dog. It's deep and slow. I would presume most little dogs yap, but here's a poll to decide. I'm listing enough choices for 3 dogs and a choice for under 1 year. If the poll doesn't appear right away, be patient. I'm working on it! |
I could have answered "All of the above". I have 7 right now!! What's funny to me is that they all sound different. I can tell who's saying what!! (Well, not actually "what"!!) New people come in and ask "how do you tell them apart?" To me, none of them look alike or sound alike. I guess it's like having twins. A mother always knows who is who!! Suz |
Wow I couldn't answer any! Buddy is none. He only barks when he thinks there is a problem, like someone in the hall or the pit next store going out for a bathroom break.:D It took me along time to break the barking, which sounded like it was coming from a german shepard. But we did it. Quiet at last! Carol & Buddy:aimeeyork |

And Suz, that's a great point! I can pick my boys' barks out of a crowd of dogs! |
Yeah, sorry I didn't know which one to pick. Alphy will bark if someone knocks, but not all the time. If he hears something at night he kinda growls under his breath. If we are outside and he sees someone or a dog its kinda of a yap/growl just depends on his mood. If he's sidetracked then he'll just ignore them. sorry. If I had to pick, I'd say adult barker. |
I really don't know how to answer because Hootie and Hobbs really don't bark at all. Hobbs may bark once when someone knocks on the door, but I really can't determine if it is a "yap" or a "bark." Hootie never really makes a peep unless it is growling at Hobbs when he tries to steal her bones. |

wanting my neighbor's complaining about the barking. I almost died when he did bark around 4mos. What came out of his mouth was enough to scare away anyone! It was very, very loud! Seemed strange coming from such a little fellow. We conquered it in time, however, at age 10yrs I think that really would be a challenge. Jack is already set in his ways. Carol & Buddy |
My two really only bark if someone at the door, or if we are wrestling with the kids. Daisy's barks are loud and scary but Bear sounds funny like he's going through puberty.:p |
Sabrina is definitely a yapper, she has a high pitched almost scream, she howls also like a little wolf, but she has to be really excited about something to do that like when she see's another dog besides Blaine, or the little chihuahua from next door comes outside, or starts barking. Blaine on the other hand barks and makes this growling, crying type noise, I've never heard a dog make that sound before, I'll have to record it and post a link to it so that you guys can hear it, it's crazy almost like he's talking to me. But I definitely got one loud yapper, and deep barker. |
Mojo isn't a yapper -- at all! He never was! He does bark.......if the big dogs are doing something wrong, car coming down the driveway, etc. The usual dog bark warnings for me to see what is going on. I don't mind them at all either! Such a good litte watch dog! hee,hee |
Grayson is a yapper! Yapps the most when he see's his reflection in the glass case we keep the dvd player in! It's soo funny |
In a group of dogs, people often mistake Ginger's bark for one of the big dogs...but then she's such a big yorkie...;) BTW, Alaska Yorkie, Jack looks like such a sweet, mellow little guy in the pics, does he really bark all that much??? |
Peanut hardly ever barks unless they are heavy into playing, Dixie barks at times till I say quiet, then she stops. |

I have to modify my vote. He is under a year and is only a yapper at the deer. neither of mine are yappy, but every evening when the deer are out they go nuts. |
