Katy goes to Day care twice a week and stays home by herself twice a week. We are with her the other 3 days. When she is home she has full run of the major rooms in the house and a doggie door to go outside when she wants. |
I am so lucky. My little Mimi goes to the office with me. Everyone fusses over her. I keep her close to my chair with all the necessities (i.e. comfy blanket, food and water...) When we have to leave her she has run of the balcony and the bedroom. She can see outside from the balcony because there is a sliding glass door. |
In our other house Kona and Bernie were in the kitchen with it closed off with a baby gate. But then Kona was able to jump ship and get to the other parts of the house... Right now, they share an expen. Luckily, neither have them have attemped to jump it. I'd love to take one, if not both, of them to work with me. But with 20 first graders it would be very difficult to make sure that Kona or Bernie don't get out of the door with one of the first graders. Maybe later in the year... |
Since Stedman is FULLY house broken now, when we leave him, he gets free run of the house. However...if we are going out of town, or if we will be gone for most of the day, we enclose him in the hall (all the doors shut, with the entry to the living room blocked) because we don't want to leave him cooped up in the x-pen all day since he wouldn't have all that much room to walk around, play with his toys, etc....not to mention I can put his bed and food and water in the hall no problem. Every once and a while when we I leave him during the day I will put him in his x-pen....for example if he is REALLY hyper that day or something...and I am afraid that he is going to get too wild while I'm gone and jump up on the very top of the couch and fall off back behind it and break his leg or something. I think about this all the time because he DOES jump up there and it freaks me out EVERY TIME! :( |
Josie has the whole house to herself. :aimeeyork She's alone for about 4 hours everyday. :( She's a good girl. :) She sure is happy to see us when we get home. :D |
When I left Rocky's crate at my moms, I would either leave him in my bedroom or downstairs. Now that I got the crate back, I usually put him in there. A lot of the times though, my mom or dad, or my boyfriends mom will babysit for us :) |
Ava or Nemo Because I have a multi dog household, the Yorkie(s) either A: Get locked up-one is in her crate, the other has his own room OR B: THEY GO W/ US! ;) I have that luxury and often take advantage of it. It's not too often that you'll see me in public w/o at least one of them! |
My babies have the lounge and kitchen. I have a baby gate to stop them going upstair. They also have access to a catflap so they can go out to my fully fenced garden too. Well Dougal can - I'm still working on training the Dixie dog to use the cat flap. |
Grayson isn't fully house trained yet so he goes in the crate while we are at work or shopping, he won't use the bathroom in there. |
Snickers has free run of the downstairs part of our house. Baxter is happy in his crate, so that's where he stays if we go out. They've been known to fight over toys and such, so I'm not comfortable giving them both free run. :aimeeyork |
we close all the doors and let them hang around in the hallway |
Simon and Hallie go to daycare twice a week and the other 3 days they are in my bedroom with the door shut and tv on. They used to stay in what I called "Their Condo" which was 2 pens connected with beds, potty pads, blankets and toys but Simon kept climbing out so now they stay in the bedroom. I come home at lunch those days and have been slowly letting them have run of the apartment for half a day. I've spied on them a few times with my webcam and all they do is sleep :) |
We don't leave Ben alone just yet -- he is only 3 months old. I was in town yesterday and my husband called to see when I would be back because he wanted to run to Home Depot. I told him he could use the baby gates and leave Ben in the kitchen but he said no, he did not think that was a good idea. He is going to spoil these babies more than me! I do have the gates and eventually we will have to leave him alone sometime so I plan on keeping him in the tiled kitchen until he can prove he won't piddle in the house. Then he will have free roam like the other two. I am a little worried about trying to keep him in the kitchen while the other two can roam -- they are already getting so close he will want to be with the others.... hmmmmm..... I may just have to let him roam and do a rug inspection as soon as I get back. No wonder DH did not want to leave him alone. More reason to hurry this house training along! |

Wow! I am actually surprised that most people let their yorkie have free run of the house! From the way people talk on YT, it seems like most are in an x-pen. But it appears that the crate is in a close 2nd! lol |
