Vet bills-upfront or later How does your veterinarian clinic work? I have to pay upfront. I wish they offered payment plans or a different method for my convenience! :) |
Up front only. With what they charge they should allow a payment plan expecially if emergency. It just dosen't work that way. Even with pet insurance I have to pay and then bill insurance co.:thumbdown |

I think most vets you gotta pay upfront. We have a credit card for emergencies, and we usually put the vet bills on that. |
Upfront, so I take cc with me. |
With my current vet, I have to pay up front all the time. I do have another vet that will let me charge in the event of an emergency. It is just a little further away but I have been going there for years. As long as you make atleast $1 payment each month to them, they don't have any problem with it. |

I checked off other...My vet does have a sign up the payment is expected at time of service so, most of the time this is how I pay..but, if a big surgery is needed I think they would take payments...especially if you have been with him for a while...I don't know how they can expect people to pay these high costs!! They want us to take care of our babies but, make it impossible with the prices they charge....this is why I only have 2 furbabies...not that I can't afford to buy them just can't afford the vet bills! (thank GOD my furbabies are in good health!) |
depends on which vet I use. 2 out of 3 vets, you have to pay up front. The other one I can pay out. |
I checked alot of different vets in the surrounding area and I found one that had great rates, but you have to pay up front and cash or check only. No credit cards. That is ok with me when one vets estimate for a general spaying was over $500. The vet with cash only was $125. I have been seeing him for about 6 months now and have checked references and he is very very good. So I guess it pays to check around. |
My vet requires pay upfront. |
I checked, "Other" because I don't think we "have" to pay upfront. We have such a great relationship with all Toto's vets, if we needed to make payments, I feel certain that we could. We have been blessed and fortunately have always been able to pay up front. |
i put other because for me personally i can make payments. I used to work at the vets office i take morgan to and , well, they love me :D so i can be trusted to come back and pay the bill. Also if your a good client and have been going to the office for years they will let you make payments on big things. Another thing they let clients pay later on is euthanasia. They don't harass clients to pay before they leave unless they've only been there a few things and there's no garuentee they're coming back. |
I never pay right away.Jerry (my vet) always sends a bill,or tells me about how much then we take care of it a later date. If I have an apt then I will pay that day.To call in the evening or middle of the night for a visit I will not have to pay till later. It is a small town and everyone knows everyone,so alot of trust that we will pay our bill ,for we will need him sometime again. If I had to make payments for a huge bill that woudl be okay with him. |
I think my vet offers a payment plan, but I always pay upfront. |
I marked other because I can either pay at time of service or I can set up payment arrangements, depending on the amount of the bill. My family took our dog there when we moved here in 1978 so they know us very well. Also, the vet in the practice I go to with Gabby and Gage is a good friend of mine from high school, all I have to do is ask him if I can make payments and he tells the ladies out front - no big deal! Haven't had to set up arrangements (thank goodness) since we first got Gabby almost 10 years ago!! But it's nice to know I do have that option:) He was so sweet to me when Katie died several years ago - I had just taken her in that morning and he treated her for pneumonia - she went into respiratory failure that afternoon and we rushed her back to the vet - he tried desperately to save my precious baby but couldn't - he never charged me for anything he did for her that afternoon! |
Wow, it's nice to see that a few people have flexible vets!! |
I can do both . |
We can pay it out if its a very large bill but for check ups and stuff its pay up front. |
Payment is due at the time of service.... Mine accepts Care Credit too. |
up front ... and I never realized until now .... of course for a routine check-up, I pay when I leave ... but when they did a sonogram for her, I had to pay up front ... Credit Card, here I come ... If I had frequent flyer miles, I'd be able to go around the world FIRST CLASS!!! |
upfront here. |
i use to be able to make payments some people ruined it for everyone else now we have to pay upfront |
I answered "pay up front" as that is the normal policy. But when I had one spayed and a lot of dental work done, they did offer to let me split the $$$ payment. I went ahead and paid at the time since I had planned for it. It was nice to know that if an expensive emergency came up, they would allow a split payment though. |
I can make a payment plan if I need to. |
My vet offers the pay plan option. If you want, you can post date checks (for when ever you want) and make payments. As a matter of fact, the day you leave his office you don't even have to pay a single thing. He is GREAT! I was going to do this once when my Cocker Spaniel needed a major surgery...which was going to be super expensive. Unfortunately, she passed away and went to Rainbow Bridge a few hours afterwords... :( My vet didn't even charge me for the surgery, so I of course never went through with the pay plan. I wish I would have been able to, if you know what I mean... :( MOMMY LOVES YOU MY SWEET LITTLE BABY...and I ALWAYS will. R.I.P. Sweetheart. :( |
