Cesar Milan ("Dog Whisperer") and... Given the recent negative publicity about Milan's tactics, I'm curious how you feel about him (& wonder if there is an age correlation). It's an anonymous poll so you can be honest about your age! |
i don't really feel anything about him either way, i don't know him. |
I like ceaser! |
I'm not sure........what is being said about him?? I don't watch tv much, so I guess I haven't heard?! I haven't tried his training, but I have watched him on numerous talk shows and he seemed like he was a good guy - likeable, great with pets, etc. I'm curious to know what is up............ |
I've never really watched his show, so I am "neutral." I have only seen him on Oprah. He did wonders for her doggies!!!!!! What is being said about him? I don't watch much TV either, but I would really like to know. |
Love him and faithfully watch his show!! Im 34 btw!! Dawn |
We don't get the channel he is on. So I went out & bought the 1st season. I just love the show. I think he is very caring to animals. If you buy the season, it has a full disk of behind the scenes. I have learned alot from him on walking our babies. |
I'm outta th' loop as far as hearing negative comments about Cesar, I guess. I'm a fan, and have adopted some of his techniques for my own pooches. I think he makes a lot of sense, as far as relating to the animal. So, unless he's doing something unethical behind the scenes, I say "carry on, Whisperer!" |
I watched my first 3 episodes the other day and had mixed feelings. He did some really good things, but he also used a lot of questionable techniques. The high, tight collars and frequent corrections would tame a mongoose. What I liked was how he told owners that dogs need exercise. The one I watched, he introduced a city herding dog to real sheep herding. I appreciate any trainer who tells people that dogs need exercise. I don't have any experience training big dogs, but I would never use those techniques with a little dog. Ever. |
I have the book and DVDs and find it very interesting . I really love the episode with Nunu the chihuahua . |
I totally get the theory behind Cesar Milan's techniques. IE pack mentality and giving the dogs enough stimulation. Most of the problems seem to come from under exercised dogs that rule the roost. I'm with AlaskaYorkie with the exercising - I saw that herding dog programme. The dog loved it. But I prefer Jan Fennell the Dog Listener's methods. They don't involve laying hands on the dog like Cesar Milan it's little things like; not letting your dog go through a door before you, eating before your dog - er I can't remember the others off the top of my head but none of them involve yanking on a collar. Basically it is about providing the dog with a strong leader / role model. As with humans, leading by example. And because you asked - I'm 28. |
I Kinda Like Caesar I am 27 and an avid watcher of Caesar's show. Although his techniques seem harsh at times, I do think he knows what he's doing. I spoil my Yorkie to death, and at times, its hard to accept Caesar's unforgiving, but sensible ways. While I love my baby, I want what's best for him more. |
My favorite was the one with the yorkies. The man spent 15 minutes on the owners psycological problems and 2 seconds on the "problem" yorkie. One stern SHHH and case closed. :D |
^Red_rock, I loved that one, too! The guy totally broke down in tears! |
