Why don't you put your yorkie on heartworm prevention? She never goes outside?

She does have heartworm pills she takes every month but she could get bad diseases and fleas if I take her out :)

I tried doing the wee wee pads inside but my other two dogs are both trained to go outside. Milo just seemed to follow along so now it's easier to train him out side.

It makes sense if by "outside" i mean outside on my patio (i live in an apartment complex on the one of the upper stories) and our patio is a little difficult to clean pea off of completely so i stick the pee pad out there and just change it every day.... it helps with training too because he USED to go inside and didnt understand why the hell he had to go outside now........

Gucci uses the pee pads. She has done very well on it. We live in apt building so is easier. :rolleyes:

We give our Yorkie's heartworm Meds starting in April, and continue through Oct. religiously. Mothers with heartworms can pass them on to offspring. It is not worth the risk not too give Preventitive medications. This is our way, and our Vets way of thinking anyway. Our Yorkie's love the outdoors dearly. We can understand your situation, we have a yard. Take care.....justus

yah I have a yard to but I dont like taking my yorkie out becuase it also may get fleas and I dont want my yorkie to be sick!

I try to have Gracie go outside. After 9 months, I'm still cleaning up messes in the house! She's so stubborn just like mommy. :p

Scrappy is trained to go on wee wee pad ,now that weather is nice he goes out side also so it"s both here. :)

We live in an upstairs apartment so Tuffy is trained to pee pads and Pixie will also be trained to that.. I like the option of them being able to use the potty whenever they want and doing it on their own. And with unpredictable weather it is nice to not have to go out in the rain.

not to sound rude but there's flea prevention too and you can take a dog outside without them getting fleas or getting sick.

I said pee pads on the poll, however, I would like to go outside mostly. I don't have to train her to pee outside, it's the pads I need to train her to use. Only because our weather to crazy. Below zero in winter and more snow than she can handle. This is when I want to stay in and use the pads!!!

Both of mine are trained to go outside to potty...neither of them have had heartworms. Now, fleas on the other hand, that's another story! :rolleyes: We've gotten that under control, though. AND they've never gotten sick from fleas.
