When buying a puppy, what is most important and what is the least important?? I know health is always the most important thing in buying a puppy but I have heard so many different things about what people look for when they buy a puppy. For instance, some people don't care about registration papers, others do. Some don't care about the size while others do. I am just curious to see what the majority is. Please be honest and please rate them from 1 to 14, 1 being the most important and 14 being the least important. If you can think of any others that can be added to the list, feel free to do so. Of course, like you said, I want a healthy puppy above everything else and I want a puppy from a breeder that LOVES their dogs. One that is interested in the well being of the dog for its entire life and wants it back if I can't keep it or find it a good home. 1. Where the puppy is raised 2. Health gurantee 3. interesting SO far price is number one..I am not rich, but that is last for me. ..unless it is insane. Number one is temperament..a dog can be free or $5000 and I could not live with it, if it did not have the temperament I want in a Yorkie... |

During the initial conversation (usually over the phone), I find out if parents are on premises and what registration is. Then I ask to come over and see the pup. First and foremost, I want a healthy pup. I want to see the parents. After these two, then I check topline and bite as of which conversations are going on concerning health guarantees. Price comes in the end if I'm seriously interested. |

Keep them coming!! It is very interesting to see the differences between what is important and desired when buying a puppy. In my opinion, no one is wrong, every body looks for something different in a puppy. These are all good lists!! Some want show quality while others are just happy with pet quality. I think price is an important one only because if you don't have the money you don't have it. Alot of people are on budgets so they have to know whether or not they can afford to even buy the puppy. Temperment is also up there on the top of the list which I feel is important too because after all, you don't want to bring home a puppy that has aggression problems or any other bad behavior problems. |
