Is your Yorkie overweight? 2 Attachment(s) I googled this Web sight that talks about overweight dogs, and now I'm stressing about Eddie's weight. He looks like the 'fat' example to me, with no hips. Check it out, and scroll down to the illustrations. Is Eddie fat? Is your dog overweight? (See attached poll) http://petcaretips.net/overweight_dogs.html |

ughhh, I think Scooby is overweight too! |

1 Attachment(s) I don't think Eddie's overweight. I think he's average. My vet says Tiggers average but I think he's too skinny. What do you all think? |

One vet told me Baby was fine, and another vet told me she was a little chubby. I like her chubby belly. Like Mommy like furbaby! |

I found the poll hard to answer as by breed standard Pippa is overweight she is 8lbs but i dont think to look or feel that she is. ;) |

I really thought Bailey was, then he got groomed, and she really shaved his body, and he's not at all, It was all hair. |

Eddie is adorable. He's not fat!! That other dog looks like a sausage roll!! Eddie does not!! :p |
|
my puppy's not "fat", he's "festively plump". hahaha. according to my vet, bunjee's weight is perfectly fine for his size. and i think a better way to check out a yorkie's shape per the diagram is to see them during a bath/shower. then you're not fooled by the abundance of hair. ;) |

My pom is overweight and Cali is skinny! |

1 Attachment(s) My Gabby girl is a "plus size girl":) She thinks she's beautiful the way she is (and so do I). Great pole and thread:) |

And, thanks, Thorsmomma, I guess I won't cut out his treats just yet. |

Eddie is NOT overweight. I'd say he's average. |
|
I don't think Eddie is fat at all.. He's average.. Jack is just tiny and you look at them side by side.. My Daisy is normal.. |

Very good question. I think it's really easy to overfeed (or spoil rotten) these little dogs so a lot of them do get a little chubby. We don't have that problem here (yet) but I can see how it developes. Shelby is miss picky so I doll up her food to get her to eat, then she wants more of the good stuff and less of the food. It's hard knowing what to do. I read (somewhere, since I read everything about Yorkies) that you shouldn't judge overweight by belly. Judge it by putting your thumb and fingers on their shoulders. If it is a V-shape, they are fine...if you get more of a U-shape it is diet time. |

Logan's not plump he's fluffy. It's so hard for me to tell if Logan is plump or not because of his fluffy puppy hair. I decided to cut back his food a little bit, but then when I gave him a bath last night he looked alright it's just so hard to tell with all that hair. It was so easy to see weight on my mom's weimaraner, but on our fluffy little ones who knows what's hair and what's weight. |

Tucker is 10 pounds, he is probably a pound overweight. I can't feel his ribs when I rub his sides but he doesn't look fat. He is one huge yorkie! |
|
I've always thought Gus was too skinny, but he has filled out in the last few months. He's a tiny guy and the vet says he is were he should be for his size. |
|
Can you feel his ribs without pushing in Can you feel his ribs at all? He looks average to me,as Yorkie hair takes up a lot of space. |
|
Yeah, I can feel his ribs pretty easily. He's not as bony as my 4-pounder, but it doesn't take much pressure to feel them. I guess he's OK based on some of the comments here. He just gets a lot of treats, and his food bowl is out all the time. |
