That's awful. I don't use flea collars. I do use their flea shampoos sometimes. Never had a problem with the shampoos. |
OMG!!!!!! How terrible!!! |
No way would I EVER use Hartz....a long long time ago I used the product on my cat and he foamed at the mouth...that was before all the warnings but I had already stopped using it....I can't believe it's still on the market. :( |
I don't use it because if nothing else, I think it smells bad! :thumbdown |
I have never used any of the flea and tick stuff from Hartz, but have used the newest shampoo from them called Living Infusions for skin and coat w/ vitamin A & E beads. It smells super good and leaves hair shiny and soft. I have not had any adverse effects caused by it. I posted on the shampoo thread about different sites (like the one posted in this thread) about symptoms, what types of products are recalled and what brands....there are more than just Hartz prodcuts that are causing problems and the products associated with the problems are the flea and tick items. I will more than likely be looking for new shampoo and conditioner soon. |
We have never used any Hartz products, but I know my s-i-l had used it on her cat, and they had a special on the news last yr....It was showing cats having seizures and dying from using the flea protection stuff. Needless to say, she doesn't use it anymore! So scary! |
WOW! why in the world are they still selling it?! |

I used it actually ONCE....one of my cat's had a really bad reaction. I washed him off immediately, then googled hartz on the web. I was amazed how many animals are injuried with a product so well known in the animal world. |
My parent's lived out in the country so we thought the dogs having flea and tick collars was almost a necessity. The very next day our 2 year old bassett hound laid there paralyzed. We rushed her to the vet and he straight out said the cause was the collar. She did recover after a lengthy vet stay but we never again touched another hartz product. |
I stopped purchasing anything made by Hartz several years ago...after their flea and tick drops almost killed my cat. I will NEVER forget that night...I sent a letter to Hartz with pictures and copies of the vet bills, with no response. My cat threw up greenish colored foam that smelled like turpentine.. I would never put any of my animals through that again! Bren |
