Which needs to go outside more often: Boys or girls? Eddie, my boy, scratches at the back door to go outside 3 times a day -- after breakfast in the morning; after dinner in the evening; and just before bed. Jillie, on the other hand, scratches to go out at least 6 times a day. I think half of those trips are for social reasons, but she's consistent day in and day out. So for those of you with males and females, have you noticed a difference? |
Mine are pad trained so no outside, but I voted because Jada pees a lot more than Bogie. If we did go outside, I am sure she would be 8-10 times a day:eek: |

I put boys only because we have not yet started Izzy's training outside, but she does tend to go more frequently than Jack - I swear Jack has a steel bladder and can hold it way longer than he should... Izzy on the other hand, every time she passes one of her pads (we have three throughout the house for her) she has to squat and go... So maybe you are right, maybe it is the girls that need to go more frequently. |
I put boys, because I feel like Finnigan has the smallest bladder ever! We just neutered him last year, so he would mark rather consistently. Of course, this involved letting him outside every 30 minutes it felt like. Now, that he's neutered its less frequent, but still twice as often as Gwenni. Gwenndilyn maybe goes 3 times a day, unless there is something she wants to bark at of course. |
I voted girls, because my Sophia goes twice as much as my male dog (dachshund) Duke. |
Interesting I had never thought about it being a male/female thing but my female goes out every few hours my male couple be happy with only twice a day |
I voted no difference. It's varied in my experience. Jackson probably goes out 4x a day on a normal basis. However, when we're at my dads house, with the fenced in yard, he asks to go out a lot more but it's not always because he has to potty. He just wants to go outside lol. |
I voted BOYS.... of course I have 2 of them and so it seems like one of them is aways needing to go! ......... but the main reason is because Seymour has had a habit of waking up during the night since he was just a little pup and wants to go out...... so he goes out and does his business. Then of course he needs a big cold drink before he goes back to bed. A creature of HABIT! :D |
