No was one of the very first commands that Toto learned ... it is invaluable! :) I shudder to think what would happen if anyone used any of the "contact corrections" on Toto!! I suppose "to each his own" but I just can't understand why anyone would yell at or hit one of these babies!! |
Generally, all we have to to is say "Trixie!" in a low voice and point at her. If you point at her, she's knows she's in trouble and will duck her head and hide. If she's doing that, there is no need to do anything else. |
I checked firm no - it wouldn't let me put more than one - but I also use time out in kennel if they get in a fight. I don't want them to avoid their kennel though so that's just for a "big" no no. |

We use the firm NO and that works most of the time...we sometimes have to pull out the water bottle!! They hate to get wet so now we don't have to even use it, we just show it to them...other than that we don't discipline them, we thought about time outs but those don't see to do our girls any good!!! |
I do both ...I say NO! and then sometimes if what he did was really bad I give him a good tap on the butt! :( |
Can you make a poll where we can check more than one? |
Don\'t be a "Bad Girl" or "Bad Boy" in a different tone of voice works in my household most of the time...lol. or they have nicknames and when they hear those they know they have done something wrong. For instance. Miss Itzi is idder bit. As mine seem to be very eager to please me... :p I am very blessed. I think the best is the barking... Like when a dog barks on television they all go nuts... we just say "tv!!" and they stop. Or if they are barking at something outside... I will tell them thank you ,I see!! But you know that I have to be alerted to leaves falling..lol |
Ted is also very eager to please....He is also very good with commands so generally that\'s all I need to do is say off or drop it and he responds most times immediately. I taught him early on the importance of listening to me while I talk with positive rewards, belly rubs and stuff like that. I have to say I think he has better manners than some of the skin kids I raised! |
No works for us. |
No works for us. Exept when barking and then we spray with water! I never EVER use their names as a no. The dogs name should ALWAYS be said in a positive tone of voice, so the dogs will come to you when you call. If you associate it\'s name with a scolding, it will not learn to come when you call. And that goes for humans too... |

I should clarify, this is used only when they are barking and they can\'t hear me say \'QUIET!\'...lolol. My gang are pretty good  12 barking at once is the stuggle I have. But what else should I expect right??haha |
