Neutered Male Behavior I am trying to find out more about the relationship between neutering a male dog and annoying behaviors. It would be a great help to me if you'd answer these questions! Thank you, First Yorkie |
Well, Tucker was just neutered the other day, but he's never humped anything. :) |

Eddie's humping has declined since neutering, I think, but hasn't gone away. He has a thing for certain stuffed animals. |
We neutered Sully at exactly 6mo. of age. He never humped anything or anyone before that......but soon after we got him neutered, he started humping more. But not much!!! Trust me, it's not often, but he does hump other dogs when he gets REALLY involved in playing with them. It's a dominance-thing so I hear. He also marks (only since getting neutered) but of course he only marks outside and it's not really an issue. |
Anyone else? |
Miko got neutered at about 1 yr old, and he humped only one inaminate object somewhat often before he got neutered...Now that he's neutered he only humps that one object but only rarely. |
Willy was neutered around 6month, he's 6yrs old now, and he has a few toys that he will hump. I try to discourage this whenever I see it. So he doesn't do it very often. Desiree ;) |
Codie use to hump Katie and he humps his toys. He was neutered around 6 months. |
Bailey does it very rarely,, when he's really excited,, if we come in from a walk, xpecially when it's really cold out, he'll dart in and go right for a couch pillow.. but he NEVER connects with it at all.. not even close, then he's done in seconds... And he did do it once to another dog, but they were all playing and it was a dominance thing , like Val said. |
Cowboy was neutered at 7mo. He still humps his teddy bear. But that is the only thing. |
Since it's in the name of research, I'll give away Dublin's naughty secrets.. Dublin is 8mos and was neutered at 6mos. Before neutering, he would hump one 'special' toy (a stuffed dog that was the first toy I bought him, if that has any revelence) just about every night when we went upstairs for the night. It just happens to be where we kept the toy. Since he's been neutered, I've only seen him do it a couple of times, and not recently at all. |
I don't know what got into TJ this weekend. Saturday, up at 6 am as usual, TJ and Roxy don't get that it's the weekend and it is the best time to sleep in, but whatever! So they eat and about 7:30 am I decide I need a nap on the couch. Roxy lays on my lower stomach, and TJ lays on my chest/neck chewing on a toy. I put on animal planet and it it the dog show, the toy breeds are on and TJ is going NUTS, running up and down the couch barking like a crazed wild animal, then he jumps off the couch and starts barking and jumping up at the TV. He finally comes back to us and jumps on Roxy, he wrapped his front paws around he head and started to hump her. Right on top of my stomach. I yelled at him and pulled him off of her, then he did it again!!!! I took him off of her and changed the chanel and calmed him down and he stopped. He did it again on Sunday (1x), the same sinerio (sp?) TJ is almost 11 months. He was neutered at 7.5 months. I NEVER saw him do this before. Do you think it is a dominace thing and b/c there were all those 'other dogs' on the TV he felt threatened???? HOW BIZARE.............. |
My chester was neutered at 6 months, he does no hump people or other dogs, but he has several stuffed animals he humps, he does it on his back, little weirdo. |
Chachi used to hump his teddy bear before he was neutered now he doesnt hump. The only time Ive seen him mark was when we were at the vets and he smelled other dogs. |
