How much $money$ do you pay for grooming? I saw this question in the grooming section and thought it might make a good poll. |
Where is the poll? I pay $30-35 for mine. |

Zero. I need to pay myself more ;);). We do all of our grooming at home. |

I tell my husband how much money I SAVE him, but all he can see is how much I spend!  ;) |
I would not dare try to groom my cotton coat she has Lots and I mean LOTS of cottony fur very dense, I groom the silkies every now and then but never the cotton coat, I rather pay and know that she will be beautiful...LOL hugs |
I used to work in grooming for a couple years during the summers and learned some in school as well (Aggie) so I prefer not to bring my babies to the groomers :) Do it all myself! Even if it doesn't come out good it's good experience for the next time I groom them :) |
I do all the grooming on Jada and Bogie..I finally got up the nerve a few months ago to do their nails. |

i only pay 18 each time i take Peyton. plus tip of course. But they only trim the feet, and a sanitary trim. and alittle around the eyes i think. thats it for cutting. includes a nail trim. i got her haircut in the summer and regreted it after. now i am growing it out but i think its going to take at least another year to get back to where it was |

Mine too! *LOL* I keep telling him how I save money by doing things myself that he should let me spend what I've saved at the petsmart or tack shop... Never works though... :( |
Zip, zero, zilch! I love to groom them myself. Still learning. |
I groom my two myself. I did however take Khloe in a few months ago so they could give her a really good cut, and I just follow it when I groom her. She has a cotton coat that mats like crazy and the groomer made her all soft, de-matted her and she was sooo fluffy :) Wish I was able to groom her like that! |
$55 plus I give a tip of $10. |
Full groom is $35.00 for me and then a tip. We go quarterly. |
My groomer raised her price from $40 each to $50.00. I only take them about 2x per year but I might do all of my own grooming from now on. I think $50 is a little steep. |
Winston goes to the groomer every 2 weeks and she charges $16.00, I think that's a pretty good deal...this is the same groomer I have used for 20 years. |
My boys are $45 each + $10 tip each, so $110 for both every 3-4 months. Sometimes in the summer I just do it myself, I take electric clippers and shave their little bodies and trim their ears and face and around their eyes and butt. But I am too nervous to clip toenails and to trim around their pads on their feet. I have a cotton coat boy that I have to keep in a very short puppy cut because of the amount of hair he has, it mats sooo badly and he HATES being brushed. My 6lb boy turns into a 60 lb boy with 100 legs when I try to brush him! I gave up on him completely and just take him to the groomers, hes good for a solid 3 months with his super short cut. My other boy is way more silky, he never mats and he LOVES being brushed. If you take the brush he'll fight to get onto your lap to be brushed! I think he just wants the treat that follows! haha |
I used to pay about $40 each, but one day I decided to cut Joli's hair myself and she sat still for almost two hours while I scissored away at her and she was never stressed out or anything. After that I decided to get clippers and do it myself. [She has always liked bath time after the time I gave her a bath/shower with me] So after cutting both Joli and Somi's hair once I paid for the clippers I bought. I prefer to keep their sanitary area and feet cleaned up, so that alone was worth getting the clippers. I am still working on getting their legs to look right, and I like them to wear clothes and Joli's hair is kind of wavy/curly so I like to keep it short so it will stay straighter and less matty. |
I vote less than $20 because while I do the bath, cuts myself; I do send him to the groomer for nail cut and anal gland expressing because he won't let me do his nails and I prefer not to do his anal glands lol. She only charges me around $10-15. We used to have quite a few bad experiences at the groomers so no thank you, I do not want to leave my baby at any length of time at the groomers but the groomer we use right now for nails is very good and I can trust her with my boy if I need to but I really do enjoy bathing him and grooming him. Its our bonding time as well. No one will be more gentle with your dog than you. |
I watched lots of you tube videos and groomed her myself including nails. But I am afraid to do around her face. I used clippers for her body and scirror cut her ears and legs while my husband fed her treats... haha yes it took two adults to handle a 4.4 lbs baby :aimeeyork |
I groom ZoE, so there's no costs other than the start up supplies. But as a few of you pointed out, I'm actually saving LOTS of money by doing it myself...so I shouldn't feel guilty about the fact that I ordered her a leopard print coat today, cos it was just the price of an average grooming session, and so as I groom her myself, it was basically free! A free coat! Awesome!!! I just love rationalizing purchases :) |
Basic grooming around here starts at more than $60. Multiplied by 3 dogs- eek. I have clippers, but I am too much of a sissy to try and groom them myself. |

I pay $20 each and then I tip. After seeing how much some of you pay I was like holy smokes! $20 each is good! Lol |
Since I adopted Cody in Nov. and he was shaved just about to his skin, he went for his first grooming 2 weeks ago. This is a new groomer for me. They charged $53. with tax. I won't groom myself, he would end up with a Mohawk hair cut. |
Once a month, full groom, $30 each dog, then tip added. |
I had Lola professionally groomed once, it was $60 + tip. Never again, the cut was terrible and I had to retrain her to accept grooming. I'm still growing out her eye hair 7+ months later. Now I do it myself, with a pair of $10 scissors from Sally's. |
zero, I groom all of them. 2yorkies,1 biewer and 2 poodles. |
$0 here....we groom all 3 ourselves. |
