Pluck or not to pluck... Who plucks the inside of their yorkies ears? I don't pluck them, but I kinda keep his hair cut short around his ears (kinda). I am really not worried about ear infections, and I think the plucking is painful and unnessesary. Feel free to criticize me...I am open. :) Hannah |
Stew doesn't have any hair near his ear canal. I keep his ear hair fairly short. I'm not worried about him getting an infection again. He had one when he came home with me. |
I don't see hair inside Sully's ears, either. We've never had a problem with ear infections yet so unless I hear really good reason, I won't bother with plucking...if there really is anything to pluck I'm missing. |
I don't pluck the hair. I tried in the past but Gus did not like it so I stopped. He's never had an infection so unless he gets one, I'm not going to worry about it. |
I dont see enough in their ears to pluck. Some people say its best to pluck them to keep them from getting infections. But a lady once told me there is a reason for that hair and its to pertect the ear . So we dont pluck. |
With my female Daisy there is very little to pluck, but with Bear... he has a forest. I really have no choice but to pluck his ears as he has so much ear hair. |
When I saw the headline for the thread I thought you were talking about eyebrows - and yes, I wax and pluck them - I am final proof that we are descendants of the abes :) My mom used to try and comfort me about my hairy legs by saying that jews believe that women who have a lot of dark hair on their legs are going to be rich. Well the comforting didn't do me any good, but maybe I am crappy poor today because I always waxed my legs. Take note of this young women! :p :p :p No, I do not pluck Kali and Mares earhairs, they have never had hair inside the ears, so I guess I am just lucky that way :) |
Plucking should be determined on how much hair they have. If they do have hair in their ears you should consider plucking.... Moisture can grow in their ears and then it may develop into a yeast infection. It is very painful, just as you or I would feel if we had a infection. So, I voted... I pluck !!!! :D |
When I get Samson groomed the groomer checks in his ears to see if any need pulled. I can't remember if he had any or not but she said they come out really easy and don't hurt. |
Gucci doesn't have much hair inside her ears to pluck. But I will pluck if the hair was a lot. |

I am a dog groomer and don't pluck ear hair on my girl. She doesn't have much. I have noticed that most yorkies don't have much. I have rarely had to pluck ear hair on a yorkie. Now poodles are another story! |
I voted I pluck, though Binks is young and has not had any hair in there yet, my poodle Tigger has to be plucked he gets tons of ear hair, before I started grooming him myself all the groomers always said it was best to pluck them. So I'd rather do that than have him get a painful infection. It really don't seem to hurt him much they come out really easy not like when we pluck our eyebrows. |
Well I don't, but our groomer does. Trixie had ear mites once...yuck! Plus, having a hound with big ears that is prone to ear infections, mites, and grass in her ears (yes...grass...all of the time). I think a pluck, although painful...it quicker and better than mites or an infection. |
Yep, I pluck my yorkies hair from his ears and he hasn't had any ear mites or infections since I started doing it. He use to get ear infections all the time and I spent a fortune at the vets getting ear ointment on a regular basis because of it. Now he has no ear wax or dirt that builds up with the hair and he has no infections etc. I find it best to do it straight after a bath as the hair folicals are open and soft from the warm water and it doesn't hurt when you pluck, he's use to it and it's the best thing I ever started, saw it on a dog tv programme and thought I'd have a go. It's very easy. Probably have to do it every two weeks as the hairs grow real quick. |
