Give paw........... So you ask your little one to give you paw which do they give you? |
Doodlebug and Pebbles always give the left paw when I ask for paw and shake. Bogey always give the right paw. They will all give either paw when asked but if I don't ask for a specific way they do the above. When they do down and roll over Bogey and Doodlebug always roll to the right. Pebbles always to the left. |
Mine do know the difference between right and left paw when asked but they will get a little confused at first (and excited) when a treat is involved. lol Hot Rod only rolls over to the right; Maggie will roll over either way and many times for a bully stick. lol |
how old were they how old were your fur babies when they started to roll over. I can get Winston to give a paw, sit, lay down, wait, hi 5, but he just doesn't get roll yet. Maybe its me. He is 5 months this Friday.:aimeeyork |

As for give paw, I taught Kaji to do a proper shake. The command is actually, "Nice to meet you," in Spanish. He knows to only give the right paw unless I ask for "the other one." |

He is! I'm not here to brag (ok maybe a little :p) but you can ask him to give you a kiss in both English and Spanish and he does it! He also knows the "you want up" command in Spanish, and "come." Ain't my little stinker smart! |
Cooper always gives his right paw. But when I say "give me your other paw" he'll switch and give me the left.:) |
Coco ( not a yorkie but still a dog) knows the difference between right and left. I'll say "right shake" and she'll give me her right paw then i'll say "left shake" or "other one" and she'll give me the other one. |

Betty Boop always gives me her left paw when I tell her to shake. |
Great post! Rocco ALWAYS gives his left paw, and ALWAYS acts as if he's afraid or reluctant to touch my hand with it. Sometimes he actually turns his head and gives his paw, as if he's lessened himself to do such a thing...little freshy that he is!:D |
Finnigan gives right. Gwenndilyn gives left. |
Interesting question! Eddie gives right when I ask for a shake. He gives left when I ask for a high-5, so I'd say he's ambidextrous. I taught him by just approaching him with my hand from a different angle -- my hand goes closer to his right when I want a shake and closer to his left, and up a bit, when I want a high 5. He also does a high 10. Jillie's still learning. She shakes with her right and hasn't figured out how to use her left yet. |
