What is your favorite hybrid dog (part Yorkie, of course) (: I have seen a lot on the site about "designer dogs" and hybrids, and I know that opinions are all over the board about them. I am just curious about what some of your favorite hybrid breeds are that are 1/2 Yorkie. I haven't personally seen a lot of designer dogs, but I'm curious to what your favs are. Thanks! |

I am true yorkie lover through and through! I like true yorkies the best:) |
I love Purebred Yorkies too.... However, one of my dogs (Peppy RIP) I adopted I swear had some poodle in him... so I would have to say a Yorkie Poodle mix because of my Peppy Pep, but I would never purchase a "designer" breed..... |
Yorkie and more Yorkie. :) I do like mixed breeds though like my furniece (hound and something). :) |
Khloe is 100% Yorkie also, and of course, she is my favorite. I'm just curious about the other mixes that people adore. I adore a Silky/Yorkie mix because they still have the look of a Yorkie, but some are bigger. ;) |
I understand completely. I started this poll, and expected some people to voice their opinions against the hybrid dogs, and that is okay. I'm not searching for one; I'm simply intrigued in genotypes and how some of the variations look. I bet your Yorkie/Poodle mix was adorable; I have fostered one or two from the rescue shelter that looked like something else was there. I just couldn't place what... (: |
The problem with a mixed Yorkie is...there is no set type. A friend used to have Yorkiepoo from the pound...he was so cute. Gray and white..the pattern of shading was beautiful..he was 4 pounds and a baby face...but a neighbor who lived across the street had 3 of them..all from the same color parents..hers were in the 10 pound range, white, terrier muzzle and looked nothing like the gray Yorkie poo...so when someoen says they love the look of a Yorkie poo..that covers a lot of looks and colors...I perfer the look of a purebred Yorkie...that is the "type" I can count on to reproduce to type.. |

2 Attachment(s) Mixing breeders to make Morkies, Dorkies, Porkies etc is not in the best interest of breeding. I have 2 Morkies neither look anything alike. They are both rescues and there is no way that I would have purchased a Morkie from a "breeder". Doodlebug is a "morkie" he has black eyes and the skin coloring of a maltese. He is 11 lbs with a cottony coat, grade 2 LP and has an underbite. Bogey is a "morkie" as well. He has brown eyes, a silky coat and is 11 lbs as well. I had a foster Truman who was a Yorkipoo. The poor thing was blind, had the coloring of a yorkie and the hair of a poodle. He was 12 lbs and was almost twice the height of all my others. So as you can see there is no way to tell exactly what you are getting when you mix and cross breeders. It's pretty much a crap shoot. |

I'm 100% dog all the way. I have a yorkie/maltese mix who is just the love of my life. |

The thing is, yorkies are generally mixed with other breeds that have the same major characteristics - hypoallergenic and small. So I don't see the point for these crosses. JMO. |
When we decided to get a little furbaby we too were looking for a Yorkie. And I must say there are so many beautiful, adorable Yorkies here. I love seeing all the little happy faces. However, in our search for our new little furbaby...we came across our little Lexi....(Yorkiepoo) and our hearts melted and it was all over. She will be 2 in November and is the love of our life...we have been blessed with her. Her daddy is an absolutely beautiful little Yorkie...Lexi resembles him alot and has his funny personality too :D |
