Would you clone your Yorkie? With so much news today on "cloning" I was just curious if any of you would or would not ever consider producing offspring from a single organism from your Yorkie (s) ?? I possibly can see top ranked show dogs with perfect (is there such a thing as perfection?) conformation; yet then there is the more personal side of having a pet that one owns which is loved so very much and has the desire to keep the bloodline continued in their pet. I personally myself am not willing to do so due to my beliefs on the subject, but everyone has their own beliefs and feelings towards this. (This is what makes this world go around) :D |
While losing Yoda would be incredibly hard, I just don't think even if we did clone him, that it'd be the SAME Yoda. Plus it just doesn't seem right to me either, but if people want to do it, I think they should be able to, and I guess science is getting there for cloning dogs (within the next few years possibly). |
While I would probably want to die too if anything happened to Toto, I have to second what Schatzie said!! |
Love Sydnee As much as I love Sydnee, I have to agree I wouldn't do it. Though I have had her only a short time I just can't see even a clone giving the unconditional love or feeling it for the cloned version. I guess the old quote "better to have loved and lost, than not to love at all" which isn't the exact quote but for reference it works. Her personality just lights up people. Even people like my Mom who isn't an animal person, was holding Sydnee yesterday and baby talking to her. Viki |
i feel the same. even though i love nala and don't want to ever see her go i couldn't clone her. i don't think it would be the same nala to me even if she acted just like the first nala. |
cloning What do you mean by cloning your own yorkies dont make sence!!! :)   |
I would not be able to clone Luig in my own hearted opinion. There will never be another Luig, and he is in my life for a reason, just as all my friends and family are. When they are gone, they are gone. I don't want to sound cruel or anything, but everybody and every animal brings something different into our world. Once Luig leaves this earth, I hope there will be another furbaby waiting for me to bring them into my life. I hope he/she will be different-Different is what brings spice into our lives. :animal-sm |
I agree with what everyone else has said. I would never consider cloning Bo or Woody, my Schnauzer, as much as I love them. Bo is due to be neutered next week and I have second-guessed myself, i.e., what if I would ever want one of his offspring? What if I get that female that I want and ever wanted to breed them? I guess, though, I've learned from the breeder's posts that breeding is something that can never be undertaken lightly or on a whim. The mom and puppies health is at stake if something goes wrong. So, anyway in a round about way I can understand the desire to continue the line of a particular dog. But,about cloning, I think God intends that He be the One Who sets a life in motion. I'll leave that to Him. |

I would never clone scrappy I dont think it would be the same scrappy. :aimeeyork |
Cloning Yorkie Honestly, I lost my Rosebud about 5 years ago, and if money were no object and the opportunity happened I would have her cloned in a minute. I still miss her now. My current babies (yorkies) love me lots and I return their affection but I still catch myself looking for her in the bunch. :rose: :unlove: |
