Baron is not a barkie dog. If we're out and he sees another dog or squirrels and sometimes people he'll bark a few times. At home he usually barks when someone is @ the door!! My Papillion is a really barkie dog! Anything will set him off...Even Baron will look @ him as if to say, "What are you barking at??"The 2 of them are my CHEAP Security System...:) |
Not much Jasper is a funny little pup when it comes to barking...lol. He is not a random barker, he doesnt bark at the things outside. No, he barkes at animals on tv. My grandparrents have a bigscreen tv with surround sound and they love old westerns. And boy I tell you, he HATES horses on the screen! He just barks and barks, and looks at me like "mom! those are NOT supposed to be in our house!" he hushes up when i tell him...but thats the one thing he will bark at. He growels at his reflection..but no barking...its quite odd...odd but nice... |
Thor is judicious in his "request" barking. If he barks at me, I know something needs to be taken care of. He has started to try whining, which I admit I'm too soft on. His "spooky" barking on the other hand... if we're outside, he's determined to scare every man, woman, and dog within ear range. You know how some people love the sound of their own voice? Thor loves the sound of his bark. He wants to share it with the world. We're working on it! |
Harley only barks when someone rings the doorbell or knocks, or when the dog next door barks, and at squirrels. He also has to join in with my Aussie mix, Misty when she barks. Other than that, he never barks and he quiets down very quickly. |
It can sound like a kennel in our house...especially if someone rings the door bell or if they hear the UPS/Fed Ex truck. Kissy will start them all barking if she hears something. I pop a rolled up newspaper on my hand and they generally shut up. I used to use a metal can with pennies but they got too used to that and it didn't phase them. When they all run outside to potty, they are barking their brains out and can't get out fast enough! |
Not too bad! My girls bark when someone knocks at the door, but only until they see who it is. The also bark when they are in their kennel and want out, but I would too!!! They also bark any time that they can see me but can't get close enough to touch. Little Bella will give a tiny bark when she wants something.:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |

Like Linda said..she barks her brains out. |
I have had chloe since she was 12. She barked occasionally for the first 2 years i had her. But in the last 3 years, i dont recall her barking at all:confused: I guess its because of her age:animal-pa Did you ever notice that if a small dog barks even for a moment, they are cnsidered annoying or yappy? While a larger dog could bark all day and night but wouldnt be labbelled? When my neighbor moved next door 4 years ago, they had a black lab x. Of course their was a fence seperating the 2 girls, and they both charged it barking. The lab barking more, and more loudly then chloe. My new neighbor sharply said. "I cant live next to a yappy Mutt! " I was stunned. It was all chloes fault in her eyes. I dont understand, A dog is a dog, wheather its a 90 lb lab or a 6 lb yorkie. They are both gonna bark when they feel threatened! Thankfully my neighbors moved away again in 2 months time. Ironically, they couldnt deal with the complaits the neighbors were making against THEIR yapping dog. I believe that is called poetic justice. |

However, as a tribute to my recently departed Jack, I voted that he was the yappiest Yorkie in the world. I got him as a 10-year-old, and I could never solve the bark, no matter how hard I tried. But you know what? I knew this was going to happen: My house is depressingly silent now that his sounds are gone. |
Mine will sometimes bark to get our attention but its usually just to alert us to something |
I remember when i first got Oliver a family member said "those are the yappiest dogs ever"! I was so happy that Oliver proved him wrong!! Neither Oliver or Brooklyn are excessive barkers...they bark if there is a reason, but even then, alot of times they seem to just let the others (they have a beagle brother whos good at barking!) do the work for them!!:D |
Teddi barks at strangers or random noises outside the house, otherwise, he's quiet as a mouse. But I think the neighbors think he's noisy because he barks at them all the time :P |
My yorkie barks a lot. Sometimes I don't know how to control him. |
Barking My yorkie has never barked but we have only had her two months. She is a rescue so I don't know what she might have been like otherwise. My other dog is a whippet and he doesn't bark either. I LOVE my quiet dogs!!! |
JD barks at people that don't belong on our street.., hate's the mailman since the mail is put threw a mail slot. If the door bell rings he barks, other than that he is good. Not what I'd call a yapper, when it's someone he knows, it's a totally different bark then someone he dosen't know.. That's good I think.. I can read him as well!! ha |
