How many Yorkie owners have young children? I am not trying to start a debate. I was just wondreing how many Yorkie lovers had young children. I know some breeders will not sell to someone that has children. So I was just curious. I have a 5 year son old and a 10 month old daughter. We all absolutly adore Amber. |
I have a soon to be 12 yr old boy and soon to be 4 yr old (their bdays is on feb). We all went to the breeders home to pick up Gucci. We all love Gucci so much. My dauhgther loves to play with Gucci I just have to always be watching them. Gucci gets along with everyone, she is just a bit more intolerant with my dauhgther. She will let her know that she is not in the mood to play with a small growl so my daughter will leave her alone. We did had an accident on dec were my daugther grab gucci and she scratch her on the eyelid. My daugther needed 2 stichets but is ok now. My daughter learn somewhat not to bother gucci. Im just glad that everyone is getitng along better because it will brake our hearts it we had to give Gucci away because she is part of the family. |
I have a four and five year old, but they have been around small dogs all of their lives and are pretty calm kids. I can understand why breeders are reluctant to sell to some families with small children, I keep Sandy away from almost all of my kids' friends. Some kids just don't know how to treat animals (of any kind) - let alone a tiny dog. With that being said, there are kids out there who are okay around small dogs. Mine aren't ever allowed to pick Sandy up, and Sandy is always with me, so they are contantly supervised. They've never been alone with any dog, but that's me - I'd rather be safe than sorry, even though I do trust both my children and Sandy. My mom has a Lhaso Apso, my brother has Pomeranians and my sister has Westies, and my children have never had any problems with any of them. :) |
I have a 3 year old son and was a bit nervouse to get beaker with tyler being so young.... was scared of him huring beaker or killing him some how... but i was vey stern in letting tyler know that beaker was just a baby... tyler was and still is very good with beaker... very cute together.. hes always helping little beaker off the coach when needed.... |

Nope, don't have any children - yet. We plan on becoming pregnant as soon as we get married (later this year). And plan on raising our children around dogs :D I can totally appreciate why some breeders don't allow their dogs to go to homes with small children though |
I have a 10 year old daughter and a 4 1/2 year old son. Chester and my son are best buds!!!! Also, my son knows that he cannot hold one of my pups unless there is an adult there, but really, he just leaves them alone. |
I have 7 and 4 year old boys. We have never had any problems. My kids were born into a home with a 6 pound maltese. So they learned from day one how to treat animals. They are both very gentle and caring to them. They aren't aloud to pick them up. They have to sit on the floor and play with them. Now teaching the YORKIE to be gentle and caring is another story! But Tinkerbell and my & 7 year old are the best of friends! You should see my son tell her to sit and give her a treat. It's so cute! But you can totally tell what kids have not grown up with animals. When I take my maltese Chloe to the park (she is the gentlest and most well trained of my dogs), kids just run over and hover over her and are very pushy and overbearing, and she gets a little scared. She loves kids and would never bite, but I don't like her to feel that way. I usually tell the kids that she loves it when they sit down and let her come to them. No grabbing and being loud. If they don't listen I pick her up and tell them goodbye. |
I have 3 children. my daughter is 9 and my son is going to be 7 july and my little one is 2 and they all love zoey. the baby is really good with her they play so much but im always their watching them play. but now my daughter wants my husband and i to buy another one lol... |
i have a 4 year old in the house and her and brownie have been best buds since they were both babies :D |
Age of children We had a yorkie when my children were younger (ages 5-12). They constantly had the poor puppy going in circles. It was always trying to run out the door, and one day it did. It was hit and killed by a car. It was terrible for all of us. Now 5 years later, we have Brady. Life is much calmer and the kids are much better with him. I found have a puppy is easier now with older children, then when they were younger. |
Let's see... My at home kids are 5,6,11,14 and then I have a group of 3 who already have left the nest  My children have always been raised around all kinds of animals and do VERY well with them. They have been taught since the begining how to handle even small animals. We also have birds which my 5 year old is now teaching tricks too. He is doing great with them(parrot) |

My son is 9 years old, so he is not a baby baby anymore. But like I tell him he will always be my baby. Anyway Mollie is 1 1/2 and Wyatt is 9 weeks. My Shih Tzu is 14 1/2 and my Chocolate Lab is 5 1/2. |
No -0-... Bailey is my one and only... an only child, you could say,, well except for the cat. I'm 38 and never really had the Baby Blues... Thought I did in my 20's, but I think that was, What I was suppose to do... Then it passed and I think everyone has accepted that it's not gonna happen. |
